A crowd in Abia State has chanted the name of Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, while the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, was campaigning for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The incident occurred on Saturday at the Item Okpi Festival in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.

Kalu, who mounted the stage during the event, urged residents to support Tinubu’s re-election bid, describing the President as the best candidate for the country.

He told the crowd that Tinubu would do more for Abia State if given another opportunity to lead the country.

“Tinubu will do more for Abia. Vote for Tinubu in 2027. He is the best for Nigeria,” Kalu said.

However, according to a video of the incident circulating on social media, the crowd began chanting “Obi! Obi! Obi!” shortly after Kalu mentioned the President’s name.

The chants grew louder as the Deputy Speaker attempted to calm the crowd and continue his remarks.
