Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho has reaffirmed his commitment to Brazilian forward Endrick, insisting that the highly rated youngster has the potential to succeed at the Spanish giants despite speculation over a possible January loan move.
Mourinho’s comments underline his determination to keep the 20-year-old at the Santiago Bernabéu as he looks to develop his talent and integrate him into the team’s plans for the 2026/2027 season.
Endrick’s future has attracted attention in recent months, with reports suggesting that another loan move could be considered if he struggles to secure regular playing time in Madrid. However, Mourinho has previously made his position clear, expressing his admiration for the Brazilian and explaining why he wanted him to remain at the club.
Speaking about the forward’s situation, Mourinho reportedly insisted that clubs interested in signing Endrick would have to overcome his opposition.
“Endrick leaving on loan? All the interested clubs will have to fight with me to sign him. I love Endrick. I adore him,” Mourinho said, according to the comments attributed to him by TNT Sports Brasil.
The Portuguese manager also highlighted the youngster’s potential and expressed confidence that he could establish himself at Real Madrid.
“He has incredible potential and is very important for us. Clearly, he does not need to be loaned out, as Endrick will be successful here at Real Madrid,” he reportedly added.
The reported remarks reinforce Mourinho’s previously stated preference to retain the Brazilian rather than allow him to leave in search of regular football elsewhere.
In August, the Real Madrid manager publicly confirmed that he did not want to sell or loan Endrick, describing him as a talented player who remained part of his plans for the season.
However, the situation is complicated by the competition for attacking positions at the Spanish club.
Endrick faces competition from established forwards and other attacking options, making regular first-team opportunities difficult to secure. His ability to operate as a centre-forward and across the attacking line could nevertheless provide Mourinho with additional tactical flexibility.
The Brazilian joined Real Madrid from Palmeiras and arrived in Spain in 2024 after completing his 18th birthday. He entered European football with considerable expectations following his impressive performances in Brazil, where his strength, finishing ability and attacking instincts attracted interest from several major clubs.
During his first season at Real Madrid, Endrick showed glimpses of his quality, scoring seven goals in 37 appearances across competitions despite limited playing time.
However, his progress subsequently faced challenges, including injuries and difficulties establishing himself as a regular starter.
A loan spell at French club Lyon during the second half of the 2025/2026 campaign provided an opportunity to gain valuable experience and increase his involvement in competitive matches.
His performances in France helped maintain interest in his development, while also raising questions about whether he would benefit more from regular football elsewhere or continued opportunities at Real Madrid.
Mourinho’s preference appears to be the latter, with the manager keen to assess the young forward within his own squad rather than allow him to depart prematurely.
Nevertheless, keeping Endrick at the club does not automatically guarantee regular minutes. The youngster will still need to demonstrate consistency in training and matches while competing against experienced players for a place in the starting lineup.
For Real Madrid, the decision involves balancing the long-term development of a promising young attacker with the immediate demands of competing for major trophies.
A successful integration could give the club another attacking option capable of contributing goals, creating opportunities and providing depth throughout a demanding season.
Mourinho’s confidence could also prove important for Endrick’s development, particularly as the Brazilian seeks to establish himself at one of Europe’s most demanding clubs.
The manager’s public backing suggests that he sees considerable value in the forward’s potential and believes patience could produce long-term benefits for both player and club.
However, Endrick’s immediate future will ultimately depend on his fitness, performances and opportunities as the season progresses.
With the January transfer window approaching, speculation surrounding his future may continue, particularly if his playing time remains limited.
For now, Mourinho’s previously documented position is clear: he wants Endrick to remain at Real Madrid and believes the young Brazilian has the ability to build a successful career at the club.
