Social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has reacted to singer Peter Okoye’s recent court testimony concerning about $800,000 in royalties, questioning why the amount was not mentioned in the singer’s earlier public explanation of the dispute involving his twin brother, Paul Okoye, and their former manager, Jude Okoye.
Peter, also known as Mr P, reportedly admitted during court proceedings that he had received approximately $800,000 in royalties from French music rights organisation SACEM between 2016 and 2026. Reports said he maintained that the money belonged to him and his twin brother, Paul, and that Jude was not entitled to a share.
Reacting to the revelation, VeryDarkMan questioned why such a significant amount was allegedly absent from Peter’s earlier explanations of the dispute.
“It was surprising that Peter said he received $800,000 in royalties, but from Part 1 to Part 8, he didn’t mention it. $800,000 is not a figure you will forget. You cannot miss that kind of detail in an explanation. That amount of money is too much to miss,” VDM said.
The social commentator has previously commented on the dispute involving the Okoye brothers and Jude, saying he had been aware of some aspects of the matter before Peter publicly released his series explaining his side of the disagreement.
VDM’s latest reaction comes after Peter’s testimony introduced another significant financial detail into the long-running dispute. According to reports, Peter’s admission concerns royalties collected from SACEM, a French organisation responsible for managing and collecting copyright royalties for music creators.
The development has generated further discussion online, with social media users debating the difference between the accounts previously presented publicly and information emerging during the court proceedings.
VDM also used the development to make a broader comment about Nigerian politics and the 2027 presidential election.
“Tinubu will win the next election because Nigerians don’t want reality,” he said.
