Gunmen storm, raze Imo Commissioner’s house, kill one

Heavily armed gunmen stormed the house of the Imo State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr. Emeka Okoronkwo, in the early hours of Tuesday, killing one person and razing the edifice in the process.

The incident took place at Amagu Ihube community in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo state.

It was gathered that the hoodlums also burnt the house of the former Dean of the Law Faculty of the Imo State University, Owerri, Prof. Nnamdi Obiaraeri.

Prof. Nnamdi Obiaraeri, it could be recalled, was the former Commissioner for Information, Youth and Sports and Land and Urban Planning, during the administrations of former Governors Rochas Okorocha and Ikedi Ohakim respectively.

Also affected in the incident which happened in the early hours of Tuesday is the country home of a retired Director of the Department of Security Service, Emeka Ngwu, which was also burnt killing an old woman in the premises.

The spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command ASP Henry Okoye, confirmed the attack adding that the command has commenced an investigation.
