The government of Bauchi state, has fired one of its workers, a Secretarial Assistant with the State Hospitals Management Board for fraud.
The disgraced worker identified as Sani Mohammed is said to have committed fraud which include falsification of records, issuance of fake appointment letters, illegal posting of illegal staff, faking of the Board’s Staff Officer’s signature and alteration of posting letter.
Other fraud he committed include collection of over N1 million to issue fake appointment letters. He also allegedly collected N250,000, N200,000 and N150,000 respectively to insert the defrauded persons among the approved posting.
Mr Saleh Umar, the Information Officer, Bauchi State Civil Service Commission, disclosed this to newsmen on Saturday.
The statement, titled, “CSC Bauchi dismisses Sani Mohammed Tireun, Secretarial Assistant II, upgrades 32 officers,” was dated: October 7th, 2023.
Umar said the dismissed officer was found guilty of the offences he was accused of committing which contradict Chapter (4) Section 4 Rule 108, item xvii, xiv, xv of Bauchi State Public Service Regulation 2017 (reviewed version), during the Commission’s 22nd plenary session held on October 5th, 2023.
He said, “The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission has dismissed one Sani Mohammed Tirwun, a Secretarial Assistant II of the Bauchi State Hospitals Management Board for an act of serious misconduct.
“The Commission considered the dismissal during its 22nd plenary session held at the Conference Hall of the Commission on 5th October 2023. Sani Mohammed was found guilty by the Disciplinary Committee of the Hospitals Management Board for falsification of record, issuance of fake appointment letters, illegal posting of illegal staff, faking of the Board’s Staff Officer’s signature and alteration of posting letter.
“These contradict Chapter (4) Section 4 Rule 108, item xvii, xiv, xv of Bauchi State Public Service Regulation 2017 (reviewed version) that dealt with aforementioned offences as serious misconduct and liable to dismissal.
“Besides all these, the Officer was also alleged to have collected over one million Naira (1,000,000) for issuance of fake appointment letters as well as collecting the sum of N250,000, N200,000 and N150,000 respectively for inserting the victims among the approved posting.
“The Officer in answer to a query letter issued to him by the Hospitals Management Board confessed to the crime. Therefore the Officer’s dismissal was approved with effect from 1st October, 2023.”
“The Chairman who lamented what the dismissed Officer did was unbearable, described it as dishonest and called on job Seekers to be extra careful with such people.
“The Commission during the plenary advised the victims to get redress at the appropriate Agencies”.
