Udu LGA residents benefit from Akpodiete Foundation’s health insurance initiative

(DDM) – The Executive Director of Olotu and Ekuogbe Rowland Akpodiete Foundation, Dr. Olotu Akpodiete JP, has distributed over 100 health insurance cards to residents of Udu Local Government Area, Delta State.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the distribution ceremony was held at Ubogo Community Town Hall as part of the foundation’s 7th Year Anniversary celebrations.

Dr. Akpodiete praised Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for his proactive healthcare policy designed to enhance the well-being of Deltans.

He also lauded Olorogun Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, Director General of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission, for driving effective implementation of the Governor’s MORE agenda.

The Executive Director noted that many residents are still unaware of the enormous benefits of medical health insurance and encouraged greater participation.

Dr. Oke Ikolo, present at the event, educated beneficiaries on proper utilisation of their health insurance cards to access medical facilities with ease.

Beneficiaries expressed heartfelt appreciation for the intervention. Evang David Siloko thanked Dr. Akpodiete for his dedication to improving community health.

Chief Sunday Tialobi, another recipient, offered prayers for the Governor and the foundation’s Executive Director, describing the gesture as life-changing.

The initiative reflects the foundation’s broader mission to promote healthcare awareness, improve access to medical services and support the state’s healthcare policy.

Dr. Akpodiete emphasised that the health insurance distribution forms part of several interventions his foundation has undertaken over the past seven years.

These include medical outreach programs, distribution of essential medicines, and healthcare sensitisation drives across rural communities in Delta State.

He assured residents that the foundation would continue to collaborate with government agencies to deliver quality health initiatives for vulnerable groups.

The foundation’s anniversary celebration also featured discussions on expanding future outreach, including extending health insurance coverage to neighbouring LGAs.

The event ended with a call for more stakeholders to support the state’s health insurance scheme to ensure wider coverage for all citizens.
