(DDM) – The Enugu State chapter of the Obidient Movement has continued its high-level political engagements with a courtesy visit to former Governor of Enugu State, Chief Okwesilieze Nwodo, at his residence in Enugu, as part of efforts to consolidate the emerging political coalition ahead of future contests.

The visit followed earlier strategic engagements by the Movement and was informed by Chief Nwodo’s influential role within the evolving coalition framework, as well as his longstanding support for the Movement’s principal figure, Mr. Peter Obi.

Leading the delegation was the Enugu State Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Mr. Chukwude Ikenna Claat, who described the visit as both symbolic and deeply personal.

Mr. Claat referred to Chief Nwodo as a father figure whose wisdom, experience, and political insight remain critical at a defining moment in Nigeria’s democratic journey.

He noted that Chief Nwodo’s decades of national political experience place him in a unique position to offer guidance as reform-minded groups seek to realign Nigeria’s political direction.

Chief Nwodo, a founding member and former National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was highlighted as one of the architects of Nigeria’s modern party politics.

According to the delegation, his experience in building a nationally inclusive political structure is now being deployed to strengthen the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

While addressing members of the Obidient Movement, Chief Nwodo stressed that the foundation of the new coalition rests on capacity, competence, and genuine passion for national development.

He cautioned that political participation must go beyond emotion and symbolism, insisting that discipline, structure, and strategic alignment are essential for success.

Chief Nwodo urged Obidient supporters across the country to comply with national directives and formally align with the ADC in large numbers.

He explained that while individuals may retain the Obidient identity and philosophy, effective political action requires active engagement within an established party structure.

According to him, real change is best driven from inside the system rather than from the margins.

“The fight from outside is never as effective as the fight from inside,” Chief Nwodo told the delegation, underscoring the importance of internal participation.

He described members of the Obidient Movement as the first line of defense in the struggle for national renewal.

Chief Nwodo called for deliberate grassroots mobilization, sustained political education, and personal sacrifice in advancing the vision of a New Nigeria.

He encouraged members to engage their communities directly and to prioritize collective interest over personal ambition.

Expressing satisfaction with the growing synergy between the Obidient Movement and the ADC, Chief Nwodo assured the delegation of his continued mentorship and support.

He said he was pleased to work with young and committed Nigerians determined to reshape the country’s political culture.

The former governor also charged supporters of Mr. Peter Obi to remain selfless, principled, and focused on long-term national transformation.

He emphasized that true service requires commitment without expectations of immediate personal reward.

Members of the delegation reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the coalition and expanding political participation across Enugu State.

They described the visit as encouraging and reaffirming, noting that it reinforced their resolve to remain engaged and organized.

Political observers say the meeting reflects a growing convergence of reform-oriented forces ahead of future electoral cycles.

The visit concluded on a note of unity and shared determination to build a broad-based political platform capable of delivering accountable governance.

Supporters of the Movement said the engagement further strengthens confidence in the coalition’s direction and leadership depth.

As consultations continue, stakeholders believe the alliance could redefine political participation and voter engagement in the state and beyond.

The Obidient Movement reiterated its commitment to peaceful mobilization, democratic values, and the pursuit of a Nigeria that works for all.
