….names Wike’s ally, other as new members
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has made a significant change in its convention planning committee, replacing Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma with former Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari as Chairman of the National Convention Central Coordination Committee.
This move comes just days after Uzodimma was initially appointed, and is seen as a major restructuring ahead of the party’s March 27-28, 2026 national convention.
Uzodimma has been reassigned as Treasurer, while the committee’s membership has been expanded from 73 to 90, including Senator Barry Mpigi and other senior party figures.
Former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim is now Vice Chairman I, and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is Vice Chairman II.
In a statement signed by the APC National Secretary, Surajudeen Basiru, on Friday, the party said the committee was reconstituted following “further consultations with its leadership and national stakeholders”.
The abrupt change in the committee’s leadership has introduced fresh intrigue into the APC’s convention plans.
Meanwhile, the party has extended its nationwide electronic membership registration exercise to February 8, 2026, as part of efforts to broaden its support base and update its membership records.
Ward congresses are now fixed for February 18, with local government, state, zonal and national convention activities outlined in a revised timetable.
