Authorities in Los Angeles have taken a woman into custody after a frightening shooting incident outside the home of global music star Rihanna.
According to police reports, the suspect, identified as Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, allegedly fired multiple rounds toward the singer’s residence while Rihanna was believed to be inside the property. The home is shared with rapper A$AP Rocky and their three young children.
Law enforcement officials say the incident happened in broad daylight on Sunday, creating panic in the upscale neighborhood. Investigators reported that a white Tesla stopped across the street from the mansion before the suspect allegedly opened fire toward the property.
Police later confirmed that the weapon involved was an AR-15-style rifle, a firearm capable of firing multiple high-velocity rounds in quick succession. Several shots reportedly struck the exterior of the property, with aerial footage later showing visible bullet marks on the large front gate.
Despite the dangerous situation, no injuries were reported. Authorities believe the singer was inside the house at the time the shots were fired, though investigators have not confirmed whether A$AP Rocky or the couple’s children were also present.
What surprised investigators was how quickly the suspect was apprehended. Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department tracked the vehicle and arrested Ortiz at a nearby shopping center roughly 30 minutes after the shooting took place.
Police Captain Mike Bland confirmed that Ortiz was taken into custody without further incident. She was later booked on suspicion of attempted murder, with bail reportedly set at $10.225 million due to the seriousness of the allegations.
Detectives are now working to determine the motive behind the shooting. At this stage, authorities have not publicly confirmed whether the suspect specifically targeted Rihanna or if other factors may have contributed to the incident.
The investigation will likely involve examining surveillance footage from nearby homes, reviewing the suspect’s background, and determining whether there had been any prior connection between Ortiz and the household.
Meanwhile, Rihanna whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty has not issued a public statement regarding the incident. Fans across social media have expressed relief that no one inside the home was harmed.
The case remains under active investigation as authorities continue gathering evidence and preparing the matter for potential court proceedings.
