United States President Donald Trump has said he feels “honoured” to be killing members of Iran’s leadership amid the ongoing conflict between Iran and the United States and Israel.

In a post on his social media platform, Trump used harsh language to describe Iranian leaders, accusing them of carrying out violence globally for decades.

“They’ve been killing innocent people all over the world for 47 years, and now I, as the 47th President of the United States of America, am killing them. What a great honour it is to do so,” Trump wrote shortly after midnight in Washington.

The remarks come as several senior Iranian officials, including long-time Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, have reportedly been killed since the war began on February 28, following joint military operations by the United States and Israel.

Trump dismissed media reports questioning the progress of the campaign, insisting that Iranian forces are suffering heavy losses.

“Iran’s military is being decimated, and their leaders have been wiped from the face of the earth,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pete Hegseth, the U.S. defence secretary, said Washington would intensify its military operations against Iran.

Speaking at a press briefing, Hegseth said the United States planned to launch its largest volume of air strikes yet in the conflict.

“In fact, today will be yet again the highest volume of strikes that America has put over the skies of Iran and Tehran,” he said.

The ongoing war has sharply raised tensions across the Middle East, with fears of wider regional instability as both sides continue to exchange threats and military strikes.
