JUST IN: ADC Fixes Date for National Convention

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has scheduled April 14, 2026 for its national convention as part of preparations ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.

The party also announced that ward congresses will begin on April 7, followed by local government and state congresses, in a nationwide process aimed at renewing its leadership structures across all levels.

According to the party, the congresses form part of its constitutional responsibility to reorganise its leadership from the grassroots to the national level.

The exercise will begin at polling units and ward levels, move through local government and state structures, and culminate in the national convention.

In a statement jointly signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Prince Chinwdu Idigo, and National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC released its official timetable for the internal party activities.

Congress Timetable

The party outlined the schedule as follows:

  • Polling Unit and Ward Congresses: Tuesday, April 7, 2026
  • Local Government Area Congresses: Thursday, April 9, 2026
  • State Congresses: Saturday, April 11, 2026
  • National Convention: Tuesday, April 14, 2026

The party urged members interested in contesting positions at the ward, local government, or state levels to obtain and submit nomination or expression-of-interest forms through its official platform.

According to the statement, the forms and further information are available on the party’s official website.

The ADC also called on members across the country to actively participate in the process while adhering to the party’s constitution, guidelines, and democratic principles.

The leadership noted that the congresses and convention are expected to strengthen the party’s internal structure and prepare it for participation in upcoming electoral contests.
