The NEC also approved April 11 for the party’s national convention.

As part of preparations, ward, local government and state congresses have been scheduled for March 26, March 28 and March 31, respectively.

The council ratified the expansion of the party’s membership register through a hybrid system combining digital registration with manual processes in rural areas, aimed at improving transparency and participation.

The party also confirmed the suspension of some members over alleged anti-party activities, indiscipline, and involvement in the disruption of its national secretariat.

NEC urged members to use internal dispute resolution mechanisms to address grievances and promote unity within the party.

The council welcomed a recent Federal High Court judgment affirming Nenadi Usman as Interim National Chairman and passed a vote of confidence in her leadership, alongside the party’s National Working Committee and Board of Trustees.

The party also empowered its national leadership to appoint interim officials to fill vacant positions pending the conduct of substantive congresses.

The announcement marks a key step in the party’s preparations for the 2027 elections, as political parties begin early groundwork ahead of the polls.
