The nominees for the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards have officially been unveiled, setting up what promises to be a highly competitive celebration of African film and television.
Leading the nominations this year are Gingerrr and The Herd, both securing nine nominations each. Close behind is To Kill A Monkey with eight nominations, while My Father’s Shadow follows with seven, highlighting a strong year for compelling storytelling across the industry.
The announcement was made on Sunday, March 29, 2026, during a live broadcast on Africa Magic, hosted by award-winning actor Chimezie Imo.
In the acting categories, notable names returned with strong recognition. Sola Sobowale earned nominations in both lead and supporting categories, alongside Uzor Arukwe and Lateef Adedimeji. Rising talent Genoveva Umeh also scored her first Best Lead Actress nomination.
The awards feature 32 categories, including jury-selected and audience-voted segments, with public voting already open.
