(DDM) – The Nigeria Police Force in Borno State has laid to rest four officers who lost their lives during an ആക്രമ by Boko Haram in Nganzai Local Government Area.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) confirmed that the officers were buried with honours by the state command after they were killed while confronting insurgents in the line of duty.
The fallen officers were said to have been part of a security response team deployed to repel an ആക്രമ by suspected Boko Haram fighters.
Authorities noted that the officers displayed courage and commitment while defending their positions during the incident.
The burial ceremony was attended by senior police officials, colleagues, and family members who gathered to pay their last respects.
Command representatives described the deceased as heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.
They emphasised that their bravery reflects the ongoing commitment of security personnel to protecting lives and maintaining peace despite persistent threats.
Nganzai and other parts of Borno State have continued to experience security challenges linked to insurgent activities in the North-East region.
Security analysts note that attacks by extremist groups remain a major concern, particularly in remote and vulnerable communities.
They add that such incidents highlight the risks faced daily by security operatives deployed in conflict zones.
The police command assured the public that efforts are ongoing to track down those responsible for the attack.
It also reiterated its commitment to strengthening security operations and preventing further incidents.
Observers say the burial serves as a solemn reminder of the human cost of Nigeria’s fight against insurgency.
They stress the need for sustained support for security agencies, including improved welfare and operational capacity.
As the nation mourns the fallen officers, attention remains on strategies to end insurgency and restore lasting peace in the region.
