“We Could Be Here for 20 Years” Omowunmi Aloba Speaks Out Amid DNA Dispute with Joseph Aloba

The widow of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, Omowunmi Aloba, popularly known as Wunmi, has spoken out amid the ongoing controversy surrounding a DNA test involving her son, Liam.

During a recent TikTok live session, Wunmi addressed her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, as tensions continue to rise over the demand to confirm the child’s paternity. In an emotional response, she warned that the dispute could stretch on for decades if not handled properly, stating, “We will be in this battle for 20 years.”

The controversy, which has drawn widespread public attention, centers on Mr. Aloba’s insistence that a DNA test be conducted to verify whether Liam is truly Mohbad’s biological son. He has maintained that resolving this issue is crucial, even tying it to the delayed burial of his late son.

Wunmi, however, has repeatedly clarified that she is not opposed to the DNA test itself. According to her, the disagreement lies in the process. She insists that the test must be carried out through proper legal channels and in accordance with court directives, rather than through informal or privately arranged means.

Her recent remarks suggest growing frustration over what she perceives as unnecessary delays and public pressure. She claimed that she had previously suggested conducting the test under controlled conditions, but alleged that her father-in-law did not agree at the time. Now, with the matter in the public eye and legal proceedings involved, she believes due process must be followed to avoid further complications.

The situation has become increasingly complex, with reports indicating challenges in securing approved laboratories for the test. These delays, combined with ongoing disagreements between both parties, have contributed to prolonging the dispute.

Beyond the immediate family, the issue carries broader implications. The outcome of the DNA test could influence matters such as inheritance rights, the management of Mohbad’s estate, and the official closure surrounding his death and burial. It has also fueled intense debate on social media, where opinions remain sharply divided.
