UEFA names Olise, Zubimendi in Champions League team of the week

EUROPE — UEFA has unveiled its official Champions League Team of the Week, featuring standout performers including Michael Olise and Martín Zubimendi following the conclusion of the quarter-final second-leg fixtures.

The selection reflects individual brilliance across Europe’s elite competition as clubs battled for places in the semi-finals.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that Olise earned his place after an impressive performance for Bayern Munich in their dramatic victory over Real Madrid, while Zubimendi stood out for Arsenal in their narrow progression past Sporting CP.

The weekly selection highlights the best-performing players across all positions, recognizing influence, consistency, and impact in decisive matches.

Other notable inclusions came from clubs that exited the competition but still produced exceptional individual displays.

In goal, Juan Musso of Atletico Madrid was selected after a commanding performance that helped his side secure progression.

The defensive line featured Eduardo Quaresma of Sporting CP, Dayot Upamecano of Bayern Munich, and Marquinhos of Paris Saint-Germain.

In midfield, Joshua Kimmich of Bayern Munich and Marcos Llorente of Atletico Madrid were included alongside Zubimendi, reflecting strong control and creativity in the center of the pitch.

Arda Güler of Real Madrid also made the list, despite his team’s elimination, underlining his individual impact in the tie.
