The Progressive Governors Forum has dismissed reports claiming that Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma was removed as chairman of the forum.
In a statement released on Thursday, the forum described the reports circulating on some media platforms as false and misleading.
The statement, signed by the Director-General of the forum, Folorunso Aluko, insisted that no meeting was held where such a decision was taken.
“The report is entirely false, baseless and without any truth,” the forum said.
The PGF stressed that Uzodimma remains the substantive chairman and that its secretariat had no record of any resolution removing him from office.
The clarification followed widespread reports earlier on Thursday suggesting that APC governors had allegedly removed the Imo governor during an emergency meeting in Abuja.
The forum, however, maintained that it remains united and focused on its responsibilities, urging the public and media organisations to disregard the speculation.
Uzodimma, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, currently serves as governor of Imo State and chairman of the governors’ forum made up of APC governors across the country.
