United States President Donald Trump said on Monday that Washington is engaged in direct talks with Iran, expressing optimism that negotiations could lead to an agreement despite continued tensions in the region.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One while travelling to Michigan, Trump said discussions with Tehran were progressing positively.
“We’re having good talks with Iran right now,” the president said, adding that there was “a good chance that something could happen.”
Trump also said his administration was not under pressure to rush negotiations, noting that the United States had “plenty of time” to address the issue.
The comments come as diplomatic efforts continue alongside heightened tensions in the Middle East, where both countries have been involved in a prolonged standoff over security and regional influence.
During the exchange with reporters, Trump also said he intended to raise the issue of satellite imagery with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“I’ll ask Putin about it. We’ll find out,” Trump said, referring to whether Russia had provided satellite imagery to assist Iran.
Trump’s remarks suggest the White House remains open to a negotiated settlement with Tehran, even as military and diplomatic developments continue to shape the broader regional crisis.
