Comedian Real Warri Pikin has responded to the controversy surrounding the cancellation of her planned show in Effurun, Delta State, insisting that the situation went beyond a simple request to change the event’s name and venue.

The comedian, who recently announced the cancellation of the show following alleged threats and petitions, has now shared what she described as evidence of a petition written against the event. According to her, claims that residents of Effurun merely approached her politely and asked her to rename the show and change its address do not reflect what actually happened.

Real Warri Pikin explained that if she had simply been asked to change the name of the event to “Real Warri Pikin Live in Effurun” and relocate it to another address, she would have considered the request and would not have cancelled the show.

However, she alleged that the situation instead became confrontational, with threats surrounding the event. She expressed frustration over what she described as years of bullying and harassment connected to her identity and activities in Delta State.

“Delta State has really bullied me,” she said, while describing how she believes she has faced hostility from different groups in the state. She specifically mentioned Urhobo, Itsekiri and Ijaw communities, saying she has felt targeted despite her connection to the region.

The comedian also alleged that the petition contained demands and threats concerning her stage name, including pressure for her to remove “Warri” from her identity. She questioned why a name that has been part of her public identity and career should become a source of conflict.

Her latest comments come after she previously disclosed that she had faced bullying for about eight years and became emotional while discussing the pressure she and her family had allegedly experienced. She had also linked some of the issues to her promotion of events associated with the Itsekiri people.

By releasing the alleged petition, Real Warri Pikin appears to be attempting to provide her audience with more context for her decision to cancel the September 20 show rather than allowing the public narrative to focus solely on the cancellation.

The development has generated further reactions online, with some Nigerians calling for dialogue among the communities involved and others urging people to allow the comedian to maintain her professional and personal identity without intimidation.

The full circumstances surrounding the petition and the alleged threats remain a matter of public debate, but Real Warri Pikin has made it clear that she believes the issue goes beyond an event cancellation and touches on a much longer struggle over her identity and relationship with her home state.
