Yoruba actors and veterans in the Nigerian film industry have gathered to offer special prayers for veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, as he continues to battle a serious health condition.

A video circulating online showed several respected members of the Yoruba movie industry coming together for the prayer session, demonstrating their support for their colleague during what has become a difficult period for the actor and his family.

Among those seen at the gathering were veteran actors Jide Kosoko, Yinka Quadri, Kaka Odunfa, Baba Eleso, Antar Laniyan, Fausat Balogun and Toyosi Adesanya, alongside other colleagues and industry figures.

The gathering comes after Ogogo’s daughter, Kira, made an emotional appeal for help, revealing that her father is battling stage-four cancer. She appealed to members of the public to recommend medical professionals or facilities that could provide appropriate treatment for the veteran actor.

The family clarified that they were not seeking financial donations but were instead looking for access to credible medical assistance that could improve Ogogo’s condition.

The revelation prompted an outpouring of concern from fans, colleagues and well-wishers, with several prominent Nigerians also making efforts to find possible treatment options for the actor.

Senator Yayi was reportedly among those who reached out to cancer specialists following the family’s appeal, while reports also indicated that Ogogo had been admitted for further medical care.

The actor’s colleagues have continued to rally around him, offering prayers and encouragement as the family navigates the challenging situation.

Jide Kosoko had earlier disclosed that the family received hundreds of offers from people who claimed they could provide medical, spiritual or traditional assistance. He explained that while the family appreciated the goodwill, it was difficult to move Ogogo from the hospital to different locations because of his condition.

The latest prayer session has therefore been seen by many as a meaningful way for the actor’s colleagues to show their support without putting additional pressure on his medical situation.
