ENUGU, NIGERIA — The African Democratic Congress candidate for the House of Representatives in Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani Federal Constituency, Hon. Maduegbunam Nelson Chinedu, has pledged to champion human capital development through effective federal representation if elected in 2027, describing investment in people as the most important investment any representative can make.
In a policy statement released on Monday by his campaign organisation, the Nelson Media Project, Chinedu said he would make human capital development a central part of his legislative agenda by advocating for greater access to federal education, skills acquisition, vocational training, digital literacy, and entrepreneurship programmes for his constituents.
“I believe the greatest investment we can make in Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani Federal Constituency is an investment in our people. If given the opportunity to represent our constituency, I will make human capital development a central part of my legislative agenda by advocating for greater access to federal education, skills acquisition, vocational training, digital literacy and entrepreneurship programmes,” he stated.
The ADC candidate said he would engage relevant federal ministries, agencies, and development institutions to attract programmes that equip youths, women, and other constituents with practical skills that can improve their livelihoods and participation in the economy. He emphasised that skills development was essential to reducing unemployment and poverty in the constituency.
“I will engage relevant federal ministries, agencies and development institutions to attract programmes that equip our youths, women and other constituents with practical skills that can improve their livelihoods and participation in the economy,” Chinedu said.
He also promised to advocate for scholarships, training opportunities, and capacity-building initiatives that can help young people acquire knowledge and skills relevant to today’s changing economy. He noted that many talented young people in the constituency were unable to reach their full potential due to lack of access to opportunities and support.
“I will also advocate for scholarships, training opportunities and capacity-building initiatives that can help young people acquire knowledge and skills relevant to today’s changing economy,” he said.
Chinedu stressed that effective representation should go beyond speaking in the National Assembly. He said it should include identifying opportunities, connecting constituents to available federal programmes, providing oversight, and ensuring that development initiatives reach the communities they are intended to serve.

The ADC candidate reaffirmed his commitment to using effective federal representation to advocate for opportunities that develop the skills, knowledge, and capacity of the people of Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani Federal Constituency. He urged constituents to support his candidacy, promising to be a representative who prioritises their development and well-being.
“My commitment is clear: I will use effective federal representation to advocate for opportunities that develop the skills, knowledge and capacity of our people and contribute to the long-term development of Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani Federal Constituency,” Chinedu said.
The policy statement is the latest in a series of commitments made by the ADC candidate, who has outlined plans for healthcare, education, job creation, and infrastructure in the constituency. His campaign has positioned him as a representative who will prioritise the needs of his constituents and work to attract federal resources to the area. For now, his message is clear: human capital development will be at the heart of his legislative agenda if elected.
