Mrs. Uche Ekwunife, the All Progressives Congress senatorial candidate for Anambra Central, has called on party members and supporters in the state to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ekwunife, who also serves as the South-East Zonal Director of the APC Presidential Campaign Council for President Bola Tinubu, made the call at a stakeholders’ meeting involving local government and ward officials in Anambra Central.
The meeting was held on Saturday at the Uche Ekwunife Centre in Awka, where party supporters also expressed their support for Tinubu’s re-election bid and the APC candidates contesting various positions in the state.
While addressing party supporters, Ekwunife said her priority was to mobilise support for the APC across Anambra, insisting that the state should play a significant role in the party’s performance at the 2027 polls.
She said: “My interest and the interest of all APC candidates as well as the interest of all other committed members of our great party is to ensure that President Tinubu wins from ‘top to bottom and bottom to top in Anambra.
“I will ensure that Anambra leads the country in delivering massive votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election on January 16, 2027.
“We must not be deceived by the All Progressives Grand Alliance slogan of ‘Progressives are working together in Anambra’. We must vote for Tinubu to enable him complete the developmental projects he has started in the South-East region.
“We must be committed and work hard to ensure our working President wins from top to bottom in Anambra State. Anambra must join the ruling team to improve in all sectors of human existence and this can only come to reality when we all sacrifice our political energy.
“As a structural politician, I can tell you, the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, Ebonyi State governor, Francis Nwifuru and their Enugu counterpart, Peter Mbah are really making APC proud in the South-East region.”
Ekwunife, who is seeking a return to the Senate in 2027, also pledged to pursue further development in Anambra Central if elected.
The APC Deputy National Chairman, South, Ben Nwoye, in his remarks, urged party supporters to reject what he described as the APGA slogan, “Progressives are working together,” which he characterised as a “fallacy”.
Nwoye expressed confidence in the APC’s prospects in the 2027 elections.
