Former professional footballer Khallil Lambin has opened up about one of the most disturbing experiences of his football career, claiming that he was once approached by a stranger who offered him access to an elite circle in exchange for what he described as a spiritual sacrifice.
Lambin made the revelation during an episode of the We Need to Talk Podcast, where he discussed his football career, personal struggles, religious journey and eventual decision to leave professional football behind to focus on Christian ministry. The episode, titled “This ‘Futbol Star’ Was Asked to Sell His Soul,” was published in January 2026, while a later live episode explored his testimony in greater detail.
According to Lambin, the encounter happened during the early stages of his football career in the United Kingdom. He said he was approached by a man who initially presented himself as a journalist interested in interviewing him.
Lambin explained that the meeting later took a completely different direction. He said the man eventually revealed that he was not simply a journalist and claimed to have connections to an influential group that, in the man’s words, “rule this world.”
The former footballer said he was made to understand that talent alone would not guarantee that he would reach the highest level of football. According to his account, he was told that he would have to “pay a price” if he wanted to gain access to extraordinary fame, success and influence.
Lambin described the proposition as an attempt to persuade him to surrender his soul in exchange for success.
The footballer said the situation became particularly significant because of a warning he had previously received from his mother. According to his testimony, his mother had told him not to sell his soul, a warning that he remembered when confronted with the alleged offer.
That memory, he said, played an important role in his decision to reject what he believed was being offered to him.
Lambin also described the psychological and spiritual impact of the encounter. He claimed that after refusing the proposition, he experienced disturbing moments that left him frightened and questioning what had happened to him.
He said he sometimes struggled to sleep and would leave the light on because he believed he was seeing the shadow of the man who had approached him. Lambin connected these experiences to what he later understood as spiritual warfare.
The former footballer further claimed that opportunities he had expected to receive began disappearing after he rejected the alleged deal. He said contracts that had previously appeared possible suddenly failed to materialise.

He said his study of the Quran eventually led him to investigate Jesus Christ and Christianity. His search, according to his testimony, eventually resulted in his conversion to Christianity.
Lambin now presents football and worldly success differently from the way he once did. Rather than viewing professional sport, money and fame as the ultimate goals, he says his priorities changed toward faith, discipleship and what he considers his calling.
One of the strongest themes from the podcast is his belief that success without spiritual purpose can leave a person empty. He recalled earning significant money at a young age through football but said that material success did not give him the fulfilment he expected.
He also described football itself as something he eventually had to surrender. In the podcast, Lambin compared his decision to give up his football career to the biblical story of Abraham and Isaac, saying, “You can’t enter your calling without giving your Isaac. And my Isaac was football.”

Lambin argued that people can become so focused on wealth, status and professional achievement that they lose sight of their deeper purpose.
