Africa Magic has announced the broadcast dates for a documentary celebrating the life and legacy of late veteran Nollywood actor Olu Jacobs.
Titled Doyen of Nollywood: Celebrating Olu Jacobs, the documentary will air on Africa Magic Showcase following the death of the celebrated actor at the age of 84 on September 16, 2026.
According to the DStv Guide, the documentary will premiere on Friday, September 25, at 5:35 pm.
It will also be repeated on Saturday, September 26, at 10:30 pm, Monday, September 28, at 4:30 pm, and Wednesday, September 30, at 2:35 pm.
Africa Magic described Jacobs as more than an actor, celebrating him as an icon and master of his craft whose memorable characters, performances and stories helped shape Nollywood.
The documentary was directed by filmmaker Femi Odugbemi and produced by Zuri 24 Media.
It traces Jacobs’ journey through theatre, television and film while examining his contribution to Nigeria’s entertainment industry and the influence he had on generations of actors.
Among those featured in the documentary are Jacobs’ wife and actress Joke Silva, veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, Patience Ozokwor, Kate Henshaw, Afolabi Adesanya and Jahman Anikulapo.
The production was originally created to celebrate Jacobs’ 80th birthday in 2022 and was first broadcast that year. It explored his journey into acting, family life and his impact on the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Richard Mofe-Damijo, one of the personalities featured, reflected on Jacobs’ influence and contribution to the careers of people within the industry.
Jacobs enjoyed a career spanning several decades and became one of the most respected figures in Nigerian theatre, television and film.
His death on September 16 prompted an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, actors and fans across Nigeria and beyond, with many remembering him for his performances and lasting contribution to Nollywood.
The Africa Magic documentary now offers viewers an opportunity to revisit his remarkable career and hear personal reflections from people who knew and worked with the legendary actor.
