Evangelist Ebube has claimed that a nurse he recently interviewed at a hospital in Nenwenta, Enugu State, was allegedly threatened with dismissal after speaking about the condition of the facility.
According to Ebube, the nurse contacted him the following day and was reportedly crying as she recounted what had happened after their interview.
He said the nurse told him that “people at the top” had contacted her and warned that she could lose her job.
“This nurse that I interviewed days ago at the hospital in Nenwenta, Enugu, called me yesterday and was crying, saying that people at the top called her and told her they would sack her,” Ebube said.
The claim comes after Ebube recorded and shared footage showing what he described as the current condition of the hospital in Nenwenta.
His account has raised questions about the alleged pressure being placed on healthcare workers who speak publicly about conditions within medical facilities.
However, Ebube’s statement does not identify the individuals who allegedly contacted the nurse, nor does it provide details of any official disciplinary action against her.
The nurse’s alleged warning also remains a claim attributed to Ebube, and no independent confirmation of the reported threat was provided in the statement.
The situation has nevertheless drawn attention to concerns surrounding the ability of healthcare workers to speak about challenges facing public health facilities without fear of repercussions.
