A 27-year-old woman has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide after her husband and their three-year-old son were found dead inside a room at Great Wolf Lodge in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains
Metallica Rose Harrison, of Towanda, Pennsylvania, was taken to hospital after police responded to a distress call at the family resort in Scotrun on Monday, October 12, 2026.
According to a criminal complaint reported by CBS Philadelphia and ABC News, Harrison allegedly called 911 requesting help while expressing suicidal thoughts. During the call, she reportedly told dispatchers that her husband and son were already dead.
“My husband and son are already gone,” she allegedly said. “They’re already gone, I’m sorry.”
Police officers arrived at room 2030 at approximately 3:13 p.m. and found Harrison with injuries to her wrist and neck. When they searched the room, they discovered her husband, Charles Harrison, and their young son dead.
Court documents state that Charles had multiple stab wounds to his chest, while the child had an apparent stab wound to his chest. Investigators also recovered two knives from the bathroom.
Harrison was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital for treatment. During the ambulance journey, she allegedly spoke about her efforts to maintain her family and her distress over what had happened.
“Every day, I work so hard. To be the best person, the best mother, the best wife. It wasn’t supposed to end like this. I was supposed to have my happy family. That’s what I envisioned since I was a child,” she reportedly told emergency medical personnel.
According to the criminal complaint, Harrison later declined to answer detectives’ questions after being informed of her legal rights, reportedly telling officers that she was “suicidal, not stupid.”
Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Authorities have not publicly established a motive, and the allegations against Harrison have yet to be tested at trial.
The family had checked into Great Wolf Lodge on September 21 and had extended their stay, according to court documents. The incident prompted an investigation involving Pocono Township Police, the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office and state forensic investigators.
Great Wolf Lodge said it was deeply saddened by the incident and was cooperating fully with law enforcement.
Authorities described the case as an isolated domestic tragedy and said there was no continuing threat to the wider community.
Harrison remains charged with two counts of criminal homicide as the investigation proceeds.
