In addition, Trump reaffirmed his intention to reconsider the US’s NATO membership, citing inadequate defense contributions from European allies.
He reiterated his long-standing criticism of NATO, arguing that member states fail to meet their financial obligations.
“I’d stay in NATO if allies pay their bills and treat us fairly,” Trump said.
“We’re not ruling out leaving NATO, but we’re still investing in the partnership.”
Trump also emphasized his commitment to enforcing stringent tariffs on major trading partners, including Canada, Mexico, and China.
“We are subsidizing several nations globally, including Mexico and Canada.”
