ENUGU, NIGERIA — The African Democratic Congress governorship candidate for Enugu State, Ocho Obodoeze Chukwuma, has unveiled an ambitious education and skills development agenda under his “Redefined Governance” platform, promising to transform the state’s education system by investing in teacher welfare, infrastructure, technical training, and a pioneering Student Food Stamp Programme to combat hunger among undergraduates.
The candidate outlined the comprehensive plan as part of his broader vision for human capital development, positioning education as the foundation of a prosperous Enugu State and emphasising that mere certificate acquisition would no longer suffice in a rapidly changing economy.
At the heart of Chukwuma’s education agenda is a commitment to quality teaching. He pledged to prioritise teacher training and welfare, arguing that no education system can rise above the quality of its teachers. The plan includes improved remuneration, continuous professional development, and better working conditions for educators across the state’s primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions.
