ABUJA, Nigeria — The African Democratic Congress Diaspora Network (ADC-DN), the constitutionally recognized seventh geopolitical zone of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has announced a major leadership restructuring aimed at strengthening the party’s global organization and expanding diaspora participation ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
The appointments were unanimously ratified during an emergency meeting of the ADC-DN Interim Leadership held on July 22, 2026. Party officials said the reorganization is part of broader institutional reforms designed to enhance the role of Nigerians living abroad in democratic governance, policy development, electoral integrity and national development.
Under the new leadership structure, Ambassador Abiodun Omolara Williams has been appointed Chairperson of ADC-DN Americas. She succeeds Chief Dr. Peter Mozie, who will now serve on an international election observation mission to Nigeria. Party leaders described Williams as an experienced diaspora advocate and organizational leader expected to strengthen the party’s presence across North and South America, deepen grassroots mobilization and foster stronger collaboration between Nigerians in the diaspora and stakeholders in Nigeria.
The leadership also appointed Hon. Daniel Akeni as Chairman of ADC-USA, the party’s largest country chapter outside Nigeria. He replaces Prince Oliver Nkuku, who is also joining the international election observation mission. According to the party, Akeni brings extensive experience in grassroots political organization and community leadership, as well as strong relationships within U.S. political circles and the entertainment industry. He is expected to focus on expanding party membership, promoting political education, increasing youth participation and strengthening strategic mobilization efforts across the United States.
Pastor (Chief) Mrs. Susan Frederick was appointed Director of Social and Special Duties. She is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Susan Home Care Inc., based in San Antonio, Texas, and brings experience in humanitarian work, community development and public administration. Her responsibilities will include coordinating community engagement programmes, humanitarian outreach, welfare initiatives and other social intervention projects throughout the global ADC diaspora network.
Party officials said the appointments form part of a wider strategy to consolidate ADC-DN’s five continental structures and position Nigerians living abroad as key contributors to democratic governance, policy innovation, investment promotion and sustainable national development.
The emergency leadership meeting was chaired by the Interim Chairman of ADC-DN, Hon. (Dr.) Kenneth Chibuogwu Gbandi, and attended by leaders representing the Africa and Europe continental chapters, the Chairman of ADC-UK, the Deputy Chairman, the Legal Adviser and other members of the interim leadership.
During the meeting, the leadership congratulated the newly appointed officials and expressed confidence in their ability to strengthen the party’s international structure at a critical period in Nigeria’s political calendar. They described the appointments as an important step toward building a stronger and more coordinated global organization capable of supporting the party’s objectives ahead of the 2027 elections.
The ADC Diaspora Network reaffirmed its commitment to building what it described as a professional, inclusive and globally connected political movement that leverages the expertise, experience and influence of millions of Nigerians living abroad. The leadership said it would continue to promote greater diaspora participation in democratic processes while supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening institutions, encouraging investment and contributing to Nigeria’s long-term national development.
