Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has strongly warned radio stations against airing inciteful comments, emphasizing the need for responsible broadcasting. Specifically, he criticized stations for permitting libelous and seditious remarks while denying victims the right to reply. Furthermore, he stressed that adherence to broadcasting codes is essential for maintaining ethical journalism.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the Governor condemned the unchecked spread of harmful content. He reiterated his support for press freedom but insisted that compliance with regulations is mandatory. Consequently, he threatened sanctions against any station violating these rules. To address the issue, he directed the Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, to engage with offending stations immediately.

Additionally, Governor Adeleke cautioned opposition politicians against inciting violence following recent court rulings. He accused some leaders of encouraging lawlessness and warned that security agencies would act decisively. Moreover, he urged citizens to remain peaceful, emphasizing that disputes should be resolved legally.

The Governor also addressed concerns about local government administration, assuring residents of a peaceful resolution. He warned that instigators of unrest would face legal consequences. Finally, he called on Osun residents to reject violence and uphold order.

By taking this firm stance, Governor Adeleke demonstrates his administration’s commitment to peace and democratic principles. His actions highlight the importance of responsible media conduct and lawful political engagement. Ultimately, his message reinforces the need for unity and stability in Osun State.
