Airtel Money is preparing for a major listing on the London Stock Exchange, targeting a valuation of up to $9 billion as the African digital financial services business moves to separate itself from its parent company, Airtel Africa.

The company announced its intention to float on September 23, with the proposed initial public offering involving the sale of existing shares by current shareholders. Airtel Money itself will not receive new capital from the transaction. London South East

The planned offering could raise about $800 million and value Airtel Money between $8 billion and $9 billion, potentially making it one of London’s largest IPOs in recent years. Further details on the indicative price range and number of shares to be offered are expected in the prospectus due in early October. (Investing.com)

The International Finance Corporation has also agreed to a potential cornerstone investment of up to £67.2 million, or approximately $90 million, subject to the final offer price and other conditions. Pulse 2.0)

The proposed flotation comes as London seeks to rebuild its position as a major destination for international listings. Airtel Money’s potential debut would give global investors direct exposure to one of Africa’s largest mobile-money platforms while creating a separate public-market valuation for the business.

For DDM News, the planned listing represents a significant development for Africa’s digital finance sector, reflecting the growing scale of mobile money and the increasing interest of international capital markets in African technology-driven businesses.

The final offer price and size of the IPO are expected to be announced later in October, subject to market conditions and the completion of the listing process.
