More than 100 professional golfers from across Africa are expected to compete for a $25,000 prize purse at the inaugural Alpha-Bravo Golf Classic, scheduled to take place at Lakowe Lakes Golf Club in Lagos from November 18 to 21, 2026.

The four-day tournament will feature on the Sunshine Development Tour calendar following a three-year sponsorship agreement between Alpha Bravo Integrated Services and the tour organisers. Under the agreement, the competition will be staged annually at Lakowe Lakes Golf Club from 2026 to 2028.

The tournament represents another step towards strengthening professional golf in Nigeria and creating more competitive opportunities for players across the African continent. With more than 100 professionals expected to participate, the event will bring together golfers seeking to demonstrate their abilities, compete for prize money and gain valuable experience on the regional professional circuit.

The introduction of the Alpha-Bravo Golf Classic comes shortly after the successful staging of the Lakowe Lakes Golf Classic, another Sunshine Development Tour event held at the same venue.

Ghanaian golfer Vincent Torgah emerged victorious in that competition after a dramatic sudden-death playoff, highlighting the competitive nature of professional golf on the tour.

The addition of another major event at Lakowe Lakes strengthens Lagos’s presence on the Sunshine Development Tour calendar and provides further opportunities to attract professional golfers and corporate investment into the sport.

For Nigeria’s golfing community, regular competitions are important for improving players’ experience, raising the standard of competition and creating opportunities for local professionals to test themselves against golfers from other African countries.

The three-year sponsorship agreement also provides continuity for the tournament, allowing organisers, sponsors and players to plan for future editions through 2028.

Sunshine Development Tour Chief Executive Officer David Udungu welcomed the growing commitment to professional golf in Nigeria, expressing optimism about the country’s increasing presence on the regional golfing calendar.

According to Udungu, the growing number of competitions and corporate partnerships could create valuable opportunities for players while contributing to the development of the sport across Africa.

He noted that the commitment demonstrated by Alpha Bravo Integrated Services would support the tour’s broader objectives, with professional golfers expected to benefit from additional opportunities to compete.

For Nigerian players, tournaments such as the Alpha-Bravo Golf Classic provide platforms to gain competitive experience, measure their abilities against other professionals and pursue financial rewards through their performances.

However, sustaining that progress will require continued investment, consistent tournament organisation and opportunities for players to participate in high-quality competitions throughout the year.

Chief Executive Officer of Alpha Bravo Integrated Services, Tonbara Okoria, said the partnership reflected the company’s commitment to creating sustainable opportunities for professional golfers.

Okoria explained that the company’s objectives aligned with the Sunshine Development Tour’s vision of identifying and developing golfing talent across the continent.

The sponsorship is expected to support the tournament’s continuity over the next three years while giving participating professionals another opportunity to compete in an organised event with a confirmed $25,000 prize purse.

Corporate sponsorship plays an important role in professional sports development, particularly in disciplines where hosting tournaments, preparing venues and managing competitions require considerable resources. The partnership therefore represents an investment in the competitive structure surrounding professional golf in Nigeria.

Preparations for the inaugural tournament are also being organised with attention to registration, officiating and other essential aspects of tournament management.

Uche Isikaku said the organisers were focused on ensuring that the competition met the standards expected of an international professional golf tournament.

These arrangements will be important in providing participants with a suitable competitive environment and ensuring that the event runs smoothly.

Lakowe Lakes Golf Club will serve as the host venue, continuing its involvement in competitions designed to promote professional golf and attract corporate support for the sport.

Femi Olagbenro of Lakowe Lakes Golf Club welcomed the agreement, noting that it aligned with the club’s vision of encouraging greater corporate investment in professional golf development in Nigeria.

The new tournament further strengthens the venue’s connection with the Sunshine Development Tour and its role in hosting professional competitions.

The Alpha-Bravo Golf Classic will begin on November 18 and conclude on November 21, 2026, with more than 100 professionals expected to compete for the available prize money.

Beyond the financial reward, the three-year sponsorship arrangement provides a foundation for continued cooperation between the tour organisers, corporate partners and the host venue.

For Nigerian golf, the long-term significance of the tournament will depend on whether such investments translate into more regular competitions, stronger development opportunities and sustained support for local professionals.

As preparations continue, the inaugural Alpha-Bravo Golf Classic is set to become another notable fixture on Nigeria’s professional golf calendar, bringing together African golfers for four days of competition in Lagos..
