Anambra re-run: Non Indigenes, women group endorse Ekwunife

“On behalf of all the non-indigenes I bring to you the message of hope and solidarity… We have come to assure Senator Ekwunife that the entire women in the zone shall vote her again to return to the senate irrespective of any platform.”

The aspiration of Senator Uche Ekwunife of the All Progressives Congress, APC to return to the Senate received great boost yesterday when Enugu Indigenes living in Anambra state endorsed her and pledged their support for her re-election.

Speaking yesterday when the Old Aguata Union, OAU, paid a solidarity visit to Senator Ekwunife in Awka, the President General of Enugu State Indigenes living in Anambra state, Chief Paul Nwodo said the choice of Ekwunife was informed by her leadership style and good representation since she joined politics.

He said the group after critically appraising the contestants in the March, 2016 fresh election into Anambra Central Senatorial zone as ordered by Appeal Court, has come to terms with what representation is all about, adding that Senator Ekwunife within the few period in the senate has demonstrated capacity and quality in the business of making beneficial laws for her constituents.

“On behalf of all the non-indigenes especially Enugu state indigenes living in this state, I bring to you the message of hope and solidarity. After critically appraising your contributions at the lower chambers of the National Assembly, we have come to terms with what pure representation is all about and that is why we have come here today as great fans and admirers of your quality representation to identify with you and assure you that no vote from our people dwelling within Anambra central zone shall be lost to any other candidate”

Earlier, leaders of Old Aguata Union, OAU had paid a courtesy call on Senator Ekwunife where they extolled the virtues of the lawmaker, describing her s new face of representative democracy and a woman with burning desire to make great impact in the lives of her constituents.

Also, women group under the aegis of Anambra Women for Good Governance and Equality Coalition led by Mrs. Ego Ezeani endorsed Senator Ekwunife and expressed readiness to work with her irrespective of her party.

The group commended Senator Ekwunife for not falling for what they described as a cheap trap by PDP to scuttle her return to the senate and expressed her move into the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC as a step in the right direction.

Mrs. Ezeani pledged to rally all women of Anambra state and Anambra central in particular to move the message of hope and liberation for entire women folk which she said Senator Ekwunife represents to ensure her smooth return to the senate on any political party platform.

“Anambra women are now politically aware, we are conscious of quality leadership and not placing much premium on political platforms. We have come here today to assure one of us, Senator Ekwunife that March, 2016, the entire women in the zone shall vote her again to return to the senate irrespective of any platform.

Responding, Senator Uche Ekwunife thanked the people for showing solidarity in her political journey, describing it tough which must be fought in the interest of the people of Anambra Central senatorial zone and Nigeria in general.
