Another explosion has occurred at an oil pipeline manifold in Omwawriwa, a community in Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that the incident took place on Tuesday evening, just hours after an explosion had hit the Trans Niger Pipeline in Bodo.

The Trans Niger Pipeline, operated by Shell, was reported to have gone up in flames, causing panic in the area.

The latest explosion occurred at a manifold connected to a federal pipeline deep inside the forest.

According to community sources, the affected pipeline transports crude oil to Brass, Bayelsa State, a major oil-producing area.

Eyewitnesses in Omwawriwa saw massive flames and thick smoke rising from the direction of the oil installation.

So far, there has been no official confirmation regarding the cause or extent of the damage.

The Rivers State Police Command has assured the public that investigations are ongoing to verify the incident.

The command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, promised to release further details once an official assessment is completed.

Rivers State is one of Nigeria’s major oil-producing regions and has witnessed several pipeline explosions over the years.

These incidents are often linked to oil theft, pipeline vandalism, or operational failures in the oil industry.

The Niger Delta region, which includes Rivers and Bayelsa States, has suffered severe environmental damage due to frequent oil spills.

Pipeline explosions in the area pose serious threats to human lives, properties, and natural resources.

In the past, such incidents have led to casualties, destruction of livelihoods, and damage to farmlands and aquatic life.

Residents in oil-producing communities depend on fishing and farming, which are heavily affected by oil-related disasters.

While investigations are still ongoing, experts suggest that illegal refining activities or technical failures could be possible causes.

Sabotage by oil thieves remains another potential reason behind the increasing number of pipeline explosions in the region.

Authorities are expected to launch an immediate probe to determine the extent of the damage and prevent future occurrences.

Local residents have been advised to stay away from the explosion site for safety reasons.

The government and oil companies must find lasting solutions to frequent pipeline explosions in Nigeria’s oil-rich areas.

Environmental activists continue to call for improved safety measures and stricter regulations in the oil sector.

Communities affected by oil disasters often demand compensation and better protection of their lands and waters.

Security agencies have been urged to increase surveillance around pipelines to prevent illegal activities and further explosions.

More updates will follow as further details emerge from the ongoing investigation.
