Supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu, have filed a suit to stop the planned rally by loyalists of the Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Gregory Onwubuasi Obi, popularly referred to as “Obidients”, in Lagos.

According to a source, the suit has Peter Obi, Labour Party and some stakeholders as defendants.

The suit is slated to be heard by Justice Osiagor of the Federal High Court, Lagos, while the plaintiffs hired a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) to prosecute the case.

More details of the suit will be made available in due course. Stay tuned…

In the meantime, however, a correspondent of News Band, lamenting the suit to stop the planned “Obidient rally” in Lagos, said:

“The people holding this country down are not prepared to let go without a fight.

“They called Peter Obi a carpetbagger but are now worried that he might win the elections and are prepared to stop the victory.

“Hopefully, the Nigerian Judiciary will be above reproach.”

In another development, the Nigerian Coalition of Opposition Political Parties (CUPP) said it discovered a secret suit seeking to stop the use of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), expose the upcoming 2023 general election to massive compromise, and/or sack the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, for his insistence to do the right things during the elections.

Spokesperson of CUPP, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere raised the alarm on Wednesday after he busted a rigging plot ahead of the 2023 elections and displayed the documents which were later sent to INEC in a formal petition.

Addressing a world press conference, Ugochinyere said the vigilance team of the group, following credible intelligence, discovered how the APC Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma allegedly used fake names, passport photos from brochures, calendars and photo studios to register and upload fake voters in some polling units in his home town Omuma and Ideato area. Read more.
