Barcelona Sign Teenager Jesse Bisiwu From Club Brugge for $10 Million

BARCELONA, Spain — Barcelona have completed the signing of highly rated Belgian teenager Jesse Bisiwu from Club Brugge in a deal reportedly worth €8.5 million ($10 million), the Spanish champions announced on Friday.

The 18-year-old winger has signed a long-term contract that will keep him at the Catalan club until June 30, 2031, becoming Barcelona’s latest addition as they continue to strengthen their squad with promising young talent.

In a statement confirming the transfer, Barcelona said an agreement had been reached with Club Brugge for Bisiwu’s permanent move and described the youngster as a player with enormous potential.

Bisiwu joins Barcelona after impressing with his performances for Club Brugge’s academy and reserve side. The Belgium youth international is regarded as one of his country’s brightest young prospects, earning recognition for his pace, strength, dribbling ability and attacking versatility.

Born on January 22, 2008, Bisiwu attracted widespread attention during the 2025 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, where he helped Belgium reach the semi-finals and was named in the tournament’s Best XI following a series of impressive displays.

The winger began his football career at OH Leuven before moving to Club Brugge’s academy in 2020. During his time in Belgium, he developed into one of the club’s standout young players and gained valuable experience in both domestic and European youth competitions.

Over the past two seasons, Bisiwu made 14 appearances in the UEFA Youth League, scoring three goals while consistently showcasing his technical quality and attacking threat.

He also featured prominently for Club NXT, Club Brugge’s reserve team, making his debut in the Belgian Second Division at just 15 years old in 2023. He went on to make 36 appearances for the side before securing his move to Spain.

Although Bisiwu did not make a senior appearance for Club Brugge’s first team, Barcelona believe he possesses the qualities required to develop into a top-level player. The club is expected to integrate him gradually, with the teenager likely to begin his journey with Barcelona’s reserve team before challenging for a place in the senior squad.

Bisiwu becomes Barcelona’s third notable arrival of the summer transfer window after the signings of Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, as the club continues to build for both the present and the future under its long-term sporting project.

The transfer also sees Bisiwu join a select group of Belgian players to represent Barcelona, following former defenders Thomas Vermaelen and Fernand Goyvaerts. Club officials expressed confidence that the young winger has the talent and potential to make a significant impact in the years ahead as he continues his development at the Camp Nou.
