Nigeria Too Rich to Be Poor – Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu silent on genocide against Christians in Nigeria
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu silent on genocide against Christians in Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu has said that Nigeria has no reason to remain poor, given its vast natural resources and human potential.

Speaking at the 2025 Nigeria Mining Week in Abuja, Tinubu described the country as richly endowed with solid minerals capable of driving economic transformation.

The President, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, said the administration is determined to unlock the mining sector’s full potential.

“Nigeria has no reason to be poor, given our abundant resources and talented people,” Tinubu said.

“Our challenge is to harness these potentials to bring prosperity to all. Let us turn our minerals into miracles of development. ‘Minerals to Miracles’ must be our rallying cry.”

He described the Nigeria Mining Week as a global platform for shaping ideas that could drive investor collaboration and national economic renewal.

The President also assured that the Federal Government would continue to ensure that mining areas remain safe for all stakeholders, including investors, workers, and host communities.

Tinubu emphasized Nigeria’s strategic role in Africa’s economic development.

He said that when Nigeria’s mining sector thrives, it signals Africa’s readiness to embrace value-added resource development.

According to him, the continent holds about 30 percent of the world’s known mineral reserves, including critical minerals that power modern industries.

“We must harness this wealth responsibly,” Tinubu said.

“It is our duty to ensure that more value remains within our economies, creating jobs and industries for our people.”

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) called for policy reforms to strengthen the mining sector’s regulatory framework. NEITI’s Deputy Director of Communications and Stakeholders Management, Chris Ochonu, urged the government to adopt a transparent and harmonized policy environment to attract long-term investments.

Ochonu noted that while progress had been made in improving licensing procedures, challenges such as multiple taxation and policy overlaps continued to discourage credible investors.

The Executive Secretary of NEITI, Dr. Orji Ogbonnaya Orji, described the mining sector as a key component of Nigeria’s economic diversification and energy transition plan.

He cited NEITI’s 2023 Solid Minerals Industry Report, which showed that the sector’s contribution to GDP remains below one percent despite modest revenue growth from ₦339.57 billion in 2022 to ₦401.87 billion in 2023.

Dr. Orji said artisanal and small-scale mining accounted for over 80 percent of production but contributed less than 30 percent of royalties.

He stressed that this gap highlighted deep structural challenges requiring urgent reforms.

Also speaking, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, presented a status report on the government’s ongoing reforms to transform the mining sector into a major driver of national growth.

At a side event organized by the Kaduna Mining Development Company, Dr. Orji further emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in subnational mining companies to boost investor confidence and sustainable impact.

A Customs officer, Assistant Superintendent of Customs (ASC) Lawal Tukur, was found dead in a hotel room in Katsina State.

The incident occurred on October 15 at Murjani Hotel, where Tukur had checked in with two women, Khadija Ali and Aisha Lawal.

A third woman, Hafsat Yusuf, reportedly joined them later.

According to report, hotel staff discovered his lifeless body around 8:30 a.m. and immediately raised the alarm, prompting the arrival of security operatives at the scene.

Sources at the hotel said some empty sachets of suspected substances were found in the room’s waste basket.

It was gathered that Khadija and Aisha spent the night with the deceased, while Hafsat visited them later and also lodged in the same hotel.

The officer’s body was taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Katsina, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead.

His remains have since been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Customs Service has been notified of the development, while investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of death.

Defections: Nigeria too complex to submit to one-party agenda — LP

0

The Labour Party in Lagos State believes Nigeria’s complexity prevents it from becoming a one-party state, despite recent defections to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to Sam Okpala, LP’s Lagos State Secretary, “Nigeria is an edifice that cannot submit to the whims and caprices of one political party. So, opposition parties will still remain.”

Okpala expressed confidence that opposition parties will thrive despite defections, citing Nigeria’s diversity and complexity.

He attributed the defections to politicians’ desire for power and lack of ideology, stating: “People belong to a political party not because they are in tune with the ideology, philosophy, and manifesto of that party.”

Okpala emphasized that Nigerian politicians prioritize personal interests over party loyalty, jumping between platforms for personal gain.

He said that until Nigeria democracy reaches full maturity and politicians begin to play politics the right way,” we will continue to see this”.

Meanwhile, some governors, senators, members of the House of Representatives and state houses of assembly elected on the platform of PDP and LP have dumped the parties for APC.

Recall that PDP’s Gov. Peter Mbah of Enugu State and Douye Diri of Bayelsa recently joined the growing number among other federal and state lawmakers.

The Akwa Ibom Gov. Umo Eno formally left the PDP and joined the APC in early June while Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta and his predecessor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, and all members of the PDP in Delta defected to the APC.

Similarly, aside recent defection of LP’s Sen. Kelvin Chukwu, representing Enugu East Senatorial District, to the APC, four members of LP Caucus in the House of Representatives defected to the ruling APC in December.

No court in Nigeria acquitted or ordered the release of Nnamdi Kanu contrary to widespread claims in the media space

0

A Note of Caution To All Sides.

As calls for the release of Nnamdi Kanu build up into a frenzied cacophony and as various political merchants seek to seize the moment by plugging into the rowdy marketplace of Igbo Bloc Vote in 2027, it has become necessary to put forward this Clarification and Note of Caution to illuminate the issues propelling that Clamour and therefore guide those being mobilized by political merchants for a March on Aso Villa October 20, 2025.

Let it be noted that the offence for which Nnamdi Kanu is being held and tried is Terror as contemplated by Nigeria’s Terror Prohibition and Prohibition Act (TPPA) 2022.

Let it also be noted that the main reason offered by the Protest March Organizers is the continuing incarceration of Nnamdi Kanu even when the Highest Courts in Nigeria have Discharged and Acquitted him, and Ordered his release.

First, to the Question of Acquittal and Order to Release.

Let it be known that Acquittal happens only after Trial of Charges.

From 2015 to date, no trial has taken place regarding the charges brought against Nnamdi Kanu, whether for the 2015 round of charges or the charges emanating from the period after September 2017 when the accused and his IPOB embarked on armed insurrection culminating in the 2020 launch of the ESN which soon degenerated into Unknown Gunmen and Autopilot, setting up terror camps, kidnapping for ransom, killing, organ harvest, and sailed all the way to cannibalism.

LET IT BE NOTED THAT since his June 2021 apprehension in Kenya and repatriation to Nigeria, No Court In Nigeria has ordered the Acquittal or Release of Nnamdi Kanu.

There are two sets of charges. Those from the 2015 round of Arrest and Arraignment AND those from the 2021 apprehension in Kenya covering for offenses emanating from the post-2017 period when armed insurrection had been introduced by IPOB by way of its ESN and other Violent Activities including the enforcement of a Weekly Sit-At-Home, for which the accused had not been arraigned up to the time the accused went to the Court of Appeal to challenge the basis of Jurisdiction of the Trial Court (which already struck out some charges) to continue the Trial.

The Defense Team contended that the Extraordinary Renditioning of the accused vitiated the jurisdiction of the Trial Court.

The Court of Appeal agreed with the Defence Team only regarding the Charges from the 2015 Period and therefore went on to strike out the balance of the Charges still subsisting from the 2015 period but neither Acquitted nor Ordered the Release of the Accused as the Prosecution had notified the Court of Appeal of the charges it had already filed against the accused for offenses emanating from the Post-2017 period which though already filed at the Trial Court, had not yet come to Arraignment at the time the Court of Appeal was dealing with the Defence application relating to the residue of the charges from the 2015 period.

The Prosecution opposed the attempt to secure the release of the accused on the ground of the aforementioned Discharge of the residue of charges from the 2015 Period by the Court of Appeal.

The Defence approached the Supreme Court to try to enforce the Release of the Accused, but the Prosecution opposed that appeal, presenting to the Supreme Court evidence of the pending Charges it already filed at the Trial Court for offenses emanating from the Post-2017 period.

The Supreme Court in its Ruling, Ordered that the matter be transmitted back to the Federal High Court for the Trial of the Seven Counts of Charges emanating from the Post-2017 period as filed by the Prosecution even whilst agreeing with the Defence that the accused did not jump bail in 2017 to truncate trial for the 2015 charges.

Contrary to the contention of the Defence Team, this decision of the Supreme Court of Nigeria makes it clear that the Extraordinary Renditioning of the Accused from Kenya did NOT remove the Jurisdiction of the Federal High Court from proceeding with Trial for the offenses emanating from the post-2017 Period.

Bottomline therefore is that contrary to the widely circulated claim on the issue, NEITHER the Court of Appeal NOR the Supreme Court of Nigeria Acquitted or Ordered the Release of Nnamdi Kanu.

This means that those who plan to protest the continued incarceration of Nnamdi Kanu on the ground that the Appellate Courts in Nigeria have discharged and acquitted and have ordered his release, are in error and so their planned Protest of October 20, 2025 could be construed to be a protest in support of the Terror Actions for which Nnamdi Kanu is being Prosecuted.

Those who assert that the appellate Courts in Nigeria have discharged, acquitted and ordered the release of Nnamdi Kanu are either dishonest (particularly Lawyers of the Accused) or ignorant, being caught up in the web of falsehoods and obfuscation by Nnamdi Kanu’s Legal Defence Team as well as the IPOB loud and ignorance-driven propaganda machinery on social media.

I had cause to publicly rebuke, by way of a widely publicized Rejoinder to Mike Ozekhome (SAN), for lending his name and reputation to the deceit of the public that the Appellate Courts in Nigeria, particularly the Supreme Court, ordered the release of Nnamdi Kanu.

Ozekhome subsequently withdrew from the case shortly after that rebuke, in the immediate aftermath of the December 2023 Supreme Court Ruling that Ordered the transmission of the matter back to the Federal High Court for Trial.

Below is a publication that contains the said rebuke and necessary clarifications that may guide those who wish to understand what is truly going on in the Abuja Trial of Nnamdi Kanu beyond internet noise and unintelligent propaganda.

https://atlanticpostng.com/notes-of-clarification-on-nnamdi-kanus-february-10-courtroom-drama/

Let this Note of Caution and accompanying Clarifications be circulated widely not only to organizers and participants in the proposed March of October 20, 2025 but also to all who have been clamoring for the release of Nnamdi Kanu on the totally false premises that the Highest Courts in Nigeria have acquitted him and ordered his release.

For the avoidance of doubt, let it be known that more than any other factor, what Nigeria is dealing with in the Trial of Nnamdi Kanu is the decades of Nigeria’s deficit of honour in its dealings with the Igbo-East. The volatile crises erupting on all sides from this one Trial should persuade all stakeholders including Government, that the time has arrived for honestly engaging the intricately tied trinity of the Igbo Question In Nigeria, the Biafra Question and the Nigeria Question which landed Nigeria in the bind of a Death-Dispensing Unitary Constitutional-Order which must now be resolved by halting preparations for 2027 National Elections in order to commence a time-bound period of Transitioning for Constitutional Reconstruction.

This Constitutional Reconstruction of Nigeria is the most viable way of ending the War Nigeria launched against itself since the 6th of July in 1967 as it will reset the unworkable Union and stabilize this West African space.

Let it also be stated that anyone who is genuinely concerned about the Igbo plight in Nigeria (as being dramatized by the Trial of Nnamdi Kanu) must get involved in the push to ease out the Master-Servant Unitary Constitution of Nigeria, imposed as Victory Charter from the War of 1967-1970 and by which the Igbo and the Igbo-East (Dot-In-Circle) has been Politically Subjugated, Economically Strangulated, Comprehensively Expropriated and Permanently Excluded from the management of Nigeria particularly in the Security and Economic spheres.

Such persons, if they are members of the political class, and any Politician who is gearing up to contest must now join the Campaign to shelve further National Elections in 2027 under the 1999 Constitution and for the initiation of an immediate Transitioning Process to undertake the Constitutional Reconstruction of the Distressed Federation.

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Thursday, gave the embattled leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), until 30th of October, 2025 to close his defense.

Justice Omotosho, during Kanu’s appearance in court on Thursday, set October 23 for the IPOB leader to commence his defence, while giving him till October 30, 2025, to close his defence.

Kanu’s legal representative, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, disclosed this in a post on his official X handle after the court proceedings.

Ejimakor said: “Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case has just been adjourned to 23rd October 2025 for “commencement of his defence”.

“The Judge further held … that MNK (Mazi Nnamdi Kanu) has until 30th October to close his defense.”

Meanwhile, the court had earlier ruled that DSS medical facility is suitable for Kanu’s medical care, dismissing concerns about his health while in custody.

Kanu is facing terrorism-related charges brought by the federal government.

The court’s decision upholds the DSS’s responsibility for Kanu’s medical care during his trial, while also setting a timeline for his defense

The case has been adjourned to October 23, 2025, for the commencement of Kanu’s defense.

President Bola Tinubu’s nominee for the position of Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Amupitan (SAN), appeared before the Senate on Thursday for screening.

Amupitan arrived at the National Assembly earlier in the day, accompanied by Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo and several associates.

He was led into the Senate Chamber by Senator Abubakar Lado, the Presidential aide on National Assembly Matters (Senate).

At about 12:50 p.m., Amupitan was already seated in the Red Chamber, awaiting the start of the session.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio welcomed the nominee, his family members, and other well-wishers to the Chamber before announcing the start of the screening at 12:55 p.m.

Akpabio explained that the exercise would include a review of the nominee’s credentials, followed by questions from lawmakers to assess his competence, integrity, and readiness to lead the nation’s electoral body.

The screening marks a critical step in the confirmation process for Amupitan, who was recently nominated by President Tinubu to succeed Professor Mahmood Yakubu as the next INEC Chairman.

Lawmakers are expected to question the nominee on election management, transparency, voter confidence, and the Commission’s preparedness for upcoming elections.

Details of the screening are expected to emerge later as the Senate continues its deliberations.

Peter Mbah Didn’t Win 2023 Governorship Election – PDP Chieftain Declares

A former spokesman to ex-Vice President Namadi Sambo, Umar Sani, has claimed that Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, did not legitimately win the 2023 governorship election.

Sani made the statement while reacting to Mbah’s recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, the PDP chieftain maintained that the party remains unfazed by the wave of defections rocking its ranks, insisting that Governor Mbah is “swimming against the tide.”

He alleged that the series of defections in the PDP are being sponsored by external forces, describing them as the work of “fifth columnists.”

“What is happening within the PDP is being orchestrated by fifth columnists,” Sani said. “Mbah’s defection will not rattle the PDP because he is swimming against the tide. In fact, he did not even win the election.”

Governor Mbah, in his defection speech, said his decision to join the APC stemmed from a desire to foster stronger collaboration and drive transformative development in Enugu State. He noted that the APC platform offers a broader opportunity to actualize his vision for growth at both state and national levels.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Mbah the winner of the 2023 Enugu governorship election with 160,895 votes, defeating his closest rival, Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party, who scored 157,552 votes a margin of about 3,300 votes.

Edeoga’s camp rejected the outcome, alleging widespread irregularities and over-voting, particularly in Nkanu East Local Government Area, and accused the tribunal of disregarding key evidence of electoral malpractice.

Despite the controversy, the PDP leadership has continued to project confidence, with Sani asserting that the party remains united and resilient in the face of political realignments.

Amaechi Okoro Marks Birthday With Message to Nigerian Youths, Calls Them Builders of Today

0

House of Representatives candidate for Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani Federal Constituency, Hon. Amaechi Okoro, has marked his birthday with a message to Nigerian youths, describing them as the “builders of today” and the driving force behind the nation’s transformation.

In a statement issued on Thursday, October 16, Okoro expressed gratitude to God for life and to young Nigerians for their resilience and courage in the face of the country’s challenges.

He said the energy, creativity, and determination of the youth remained the heartbeat of Nigeria’s future.

“Our country stands at a defining moment in history, and the youths remain the heartbeat of the change Nigeria urgently needs,” Okoro said.

“You are not the leaders of tomorrow; you are the builders of today,” he added.

The 2027 House of Representatives aspirant emphasized that the nation’s future depends on the capacity of its young people to innovate, unite, and act with a shared sense of purpose.

He said their collective strength would determine the success of Nigeria’s democratic and economic aspirations.

“As I celebrate this new year of my life, I rededicate myself to the service of the Nigerian youth to stand with you, speak for you, and work with you to build a nation that values justice, dignity, and opportunity for all,” he stated.

Okoro urged Nigerian youths to rise above ethnic and political divisions and focus on rebuilding the nation through hard work, honesty, and innovation.

He noted that lasting national progress could only be achieved if young people remained united and visionary.

He also offered prayers for divine strength, wisdom, and courage for the youth as they continue to strive for a better Nigeria.

“The future belongs to you, and together, we will make it happen. God bless the Nigerian youths. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he concluded.

Okoro, who is seeking to represent the Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in 2027, reaffirmed his commitment to youth empowerment and inclusive governance.

He maintained that a “new Nigeria” was achievable through leadership that listens to and prioritizes the younger generation.

House of Reps vows tougher penalties for certificate forgery offenders

Nigeria House of Representatives
Nigeria House of Representatives

The House of Representatives’ Joint Committee investigating certificate racketeering in higher institutions is advocating for harsher penalties for offenders. Led by Chairman Rep.

Abubakar Fulata, the committee visited several Lagos-based institutions, including the University of Lagos, Yaba College of Technology, and Lagos State University.

The committee demands stricter punishment for certificate forgery offenders and their accomplices.

The probe follows a resolution by the House of Representatives after an investigative journalist exposed alleged certificate racketeering.

Fulata lamented that many individuals now prefer obtaining certificates through illicit means rather than studying, undermining the value of Nigerian degrees.

The committee urged universities to enhance security features on certificates, such as QR codes, to facilitate verification and prevent forgery.

The committee’s investigation aims to restore the integrity of Nigeria’s education system and ensure that graduates are genuinely qualified for their roles.

By Agency Report

The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) panel set up by its president, on Thursday, told the Federal High Court in Abuja that Nnamdi Kanu’s ailment complained about was not life-threatening.

Diaspora Digital Media reported that Justice James Omotosho had ordered the NMA to constitute a panel to determine the actual health status of Kanu, the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The order followed conflicting reports issued by medical experts engaged by the State Security Service, SSS, and the defence.

In the panel’s report submitted to the court on Oct. 13 by the prosecution team led by Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN, part of which was read in the open court during Thursday’s proceedings, it was stated the “the defendant’s ailment is not life threatening.”

The team concluded that Kanu is fit to stand trial.

Based on the information contained in the report and in the absence of any objection from lawyers to parties, Justice Omotosho said the court was convinced that the defendant could proceed with the trial.

The judge subsequently granted Kanu six consecutive days, begining from Oct. 23, to open and close his defence.

The judge equally granted an oral application by defence lawyer, Kanu Agabi, SAN, that Kanu’s legal team be granted private consultation opportunity with the defendant, outside the premises of the DSS.

Agabi said the defendant’s legal team was afraid that its consultation with him (Kanu) could be tapped or recorded by the SSS.

Justice Omotosho also acceded to Agabi’s request that the private meeting with Kanu be held in the courtroom, during which only the defendant and his lawyers would be present.

By the court’s directive, the private consultation meeting will hold within the courtroom between 9am and 12nooon on Oct. 22, while the trial will resume on Oct. 23.

Five Countries Desperately Recruiting Foreign Teachers in 2025

0

Education remains one of the strongest drivers of national growth.

No country can achieve lasting development without investing in education. Yet, teacher shortages have become a global crisis.

According to the Global Report on Teachers, the world needs about 44 million new teachers by 2030 to achieve universal primary and secondary education.

The shortage is particularly severe in sub-Saharan Africa, where 15 million additional teachers are required.

Wealthier countries also face mass resignations and teacher burnout, worsening the gap.

As a result, several countries are opening their doors to qualified foreign teachers to fill the void and strengthen their education systems.

Here are five countries urgently recruiting foreign teachers in 2025:

1. United States

Teacher shortages continue to hit the United States hard. Reports estimate between 42,000 and over 100,000 unfilled teaching positions nationwide.

Many U.S. schools are now hiring foreign educators with competitive pay, relocation packages, and career development opportunities.

Shortages cut across all subjects, especially in STEM, English, and special education.

2. South Korea

South Korea’s demand for English teachers remains high. The country aims to boost English proficiency to help citizens compete globally.

Foreign teachers with a bachelor’s degree and a TEFL certificate are highly sought after.

South Korea offers attractive benefits, including free housing, low taxes, and stable pay.

3. United Kingdom

The UK continues to battle a shortage of qualified teachers, particularly in secondary schools. Physics, mathematics, and computer science are the most affected subjects.

To address this, the UK government is actively recruiting skilled teachers from abroad.

Benefits include relocation grants, structured pay scales, and quick career progression.

4. United Arab Emirates (UAE)

The UAE’s education sector is expanding fast, but it faces a growing teacher shortage. Schools are looking for qualified teachers in English, science, and technology.

Foreign teachers enjoy tax-free salaries, visa support, free accommodation, and full relocation assistance. A bachelor’s degree and TEFL certification are required.

5. Germany

Germany is also struggling to find enough qualified teachers, especially in English and STEM fields.

To attract foreign educators, the government offers visa sponsorship, competitive salaries, and professional development opportunities.

The country is investing heavily in modern classrooms and teacher training programs to sustain long-term reforms.

Globally, the demand for passionate, qualified educators has never been higher. For teachers seeking international exposure, these five countries offer strong career prospects, generous compensation, and the chance to make a global impact.

Declare Diri’s Seat Vacant Over PDP Resignation, Kenneth Okonkwo Tells INEC

0

Nollywood actor and African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Kenneth Okonkwo, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare the seat of Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri vacant following his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Governor Diri had announced his resignation from the PDP on Wednesday during an expanded State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House in Yenagoa.

The meeting was attended by the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Abraham Ingobere, his deputy, Michael Ogbere, and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) minority leader, Edward Brigidi, among other lawmakers.

Confirming the development, Diri’s Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabrah, said the decision came after “extensive consultations with leaders of the state.”

He quoted the governor as saying his resignation was for “obvious reasons,” stressing that he remained focused on building “a strong and vibrant Bayelsa.”

However, the deputy governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, was notably absent from the meeting, and no official statement has been released on his position.

Reacting to the development, Kenneth Okonkwo took to his verified Instagram page Wednesday night, citing Section 177(c) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) to argue that Diri’s resignation effectively nullified his tenure as governor.

According to Okonkwo, every elected public officer must belong to a political party.

He stated that by resigning from the PDP without joining another party, Diri had “automatically vacated his seat.”

“The position of the law is clear,” Okonkwo said. “Every elected officeholder must belong to a political party as provided in Section 177(c) of the 1999 Constitution. Governor Douye Diri, by resigning from the PDP and not belonging to any party, has lost his seat.”

The ADC chieftain further noted that while politicians can defect from one party to another, the law does not permit any elected official to be without a political platform at any point.

He therefore urged INEC to take immediate action by declaring the Bayelsa governorship seat vacant and conducting a fresh election within 90 days.

“I call on INEC to declare his seat vacant immediately and conduct a gubernatorial election in Bayelsa State within 90 days,” Okonkwo added.

Governor Diri’s defection comes amid growing realignments within Nigeria’s opposition ranks, with several former PDP governors recently joining or forming alliances with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Political observers say Diri’s move may further weaken the PDP’s structure in the South-South region ahead of the 2027 elections.

2027: Jonathan, Obi alone can’t stop Tinubu — Momodu

0
Chief Dele Momodu
Chief Dele Momodu

Dele Momodu, former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and publisher of Ovation magazine, has urged opposition parties to unite and strategically deploy “ethnic and religious cards” to effectively challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Momodu made the remarks in a statement shared on his official X handle on Wednesday.

Though, his remarks is coming amid a wave of defections from the PDP, including notable figures like Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah and Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri.

Momodu lamented that Nigeria has become a “one-party state” with the All Progressives Congress (APC) controlling both the executive and legislative arms of government.

He believes the opposition’s only hope lies in forming a united coalition, similar to the one that produced the APC in 2015, with a Northern Muslim presidential candidate and a popular Southern Christian running mate.

Momodu expressed skepticism about the chances of Southern candidates, including former President Goodluck Jonathan and Labour Party’s Peter Obi, defeating Tinubu in 2027 if they contest independently.

Momodu suggested that opposition votes can only come from prominent Northern figures like Atiku Abubakar, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Aminu Tambuwal, Nasir El-Rufai, and Emir Muhammad Sanusi.

By forming a strategic alliance and leveraging ethnic and religious considerations, Momodu believes the opposition can still mount a competitive challenge against Tinubu’s likely Muslim-Muslim ticket.

All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Prince Nicholas Chukwujekwu Ukachukwu and his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

The President of the Sustenance of Faith in Governance (SOFIG) Family, Barrister Kingsley Ezekwelu, has rallied support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket of Prince Nicholas Chukwujekwu Ukachukwu and his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife ahead of the 2025 Anambra State governorship election coming up on November 8, 2025.

Barrister Ezekwelu took Prince Ukachukwu’s message of restoration and hope to Ifite-Ogwari, Ayamelum Local Government Area.

There, he led SOFIG Family executives to the flag off campaign of its 21 Local Government Area tour and mobilization of polling unit canvassers across the state’s 326 electoral wards ahead of the crucial governorship election.

Addressing a surging enthusiastic crowd, at Ayamelum Council area, Ezekwelu, in a profound declaration, said that the most meaningful step for Anambra State grassroots support and mobilization at this defining moment is a transformative change in leadership.

This, he said, is capable of steering the state away from nothingness toward greater progress and glory.

He noted that the visionary leader, equipped with integrity and proven capacity, is none other than Ukachukwu.

Ezekwelu urged members of the Ikukuoma SOFIG Family to “make it a date with history” on November 8 by voting massively for the joint ticket of Nicholas Ukachukwu and Uche Ekwunife.

He described them as a perfect team endowed with the experience, credibility, and vision to reposition Anambra for greatness.

He emphasised that at a time when the state stands at a political crossroads, Anambra needs a leadership that understands the pains of the people and has the willpower to deliver good governance.

“Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu has consistently demonstrated capacity, compassion, and commitment to the cause of Ndi Anambra.

“He represents integrity, development, and inclusiveness, qualities we urgently need to move our dear state forward,” Ezekwelu stated passionately.

In his speech, Pastor Emeka Okonkwo, Ayamelum Coordinator of the SOFIG Family, said that Anambra deserves a people-oriented and transformational government that will restore hope and ensure development reaches every community.

He noted that “the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket of Prince Ukachukwu and Senator Ekwunife offers the most credible path to achieve that vision.

“The desired change we have long yearned for can only come through a government led by Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu,” Pastor Okonkwo affirmed.

“He is not only a leader with a proven record of philanthropy and vision but also a man who listens and acts decisively.

“His partnership with Senator Ekwunife will ensure balanced representation, gender inclusion, and development across the three senatorial zones,” he added.

Pastor Okonkwo expressed disappointment over the current All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) administration has failed to fulfil its promises to the people of Ayamelum.

“It is heartbreaking that despite our loyalty and contributions, we have not witnessed the development we were promised.

“That is why we are aligning with a man of timbre and calibre, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, fondly known as Ikukuoma Ndi Igbo.

“His leadership will restore dignity and direction to our politics,” he concluded.

The gathering attracted party faithful and supporters.

Attendees were charged with optimism and renewed faith in the APC’s vision for Anambra.

Elderly participants offered heartfelt prayers for the success of Ukachukwu and Ekwunife in the upcoming election.

They described their joint candidacy as a divine arrangement for the liberation and transformation of Anambra State.

As the event drew to a close, a SOFIG member told Diaspora Digital Media (DDM): “It was clear that the message of change had deeply resonated with the people of Ayamelum.

“They saw it not merely as political mobilisation, but as the birth of a movement.

“With the November 8 election approaching, the people of Ayamelum are declaring boldly: the time for purposeful leadership is now, and the team to deliver it is Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu and Senator Uche Ekwunife.”

Court Orders Kaduna Police to Pay N15m for Blocking ADC, SDP Rallies

Court dismisses charges against Endbadgovernance protesters

A Kaduna High Court has ordered the state’s Commissioner of Police to pay N15 million in damages for violating the rights of opposition party members to peaceful assembly.

Justice Murtala Zubairu, who delivered the judgment on Wednesday, ruled that the police acted unlawfully when they disrupted meetings organized by members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

The meetings, held on August 30 and September 4, 2025, reportedly involved former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and senior members of both parties.

According to court findings, the first gathering was attacked by thugs in the presence of police officers, while the second was stopped by police using an ex parte order.

The police had filed a suit, marked KDH/KAD/NPD/1315/2025, asking the court to suspend all political meetings in Kaduna pending investigations into alleged threats of violence.

However, Justice Zubairu dismissed the case as “politically motivated” and “an abuse of court process.”

He ruled that the police exceeded their powers under the Police Act 2020 and acted in bad faith.

The court described their actions as unconstitutional and a clear overreach of authority.

“The idea that the police can suspend the fundamental rights of association and assembly is an overreach,” Justice Zubairu said.

“Their duty is to provide security, not to ban lawful gatherings based on vague fears.”

The judge declared that the ex parte injunction obtained by the police on September 4 violated Section 40 of the 1999 Constitution, which guarantees the right to peaceful assembly.

He therefore voided the injunction, calling it irregular and without merit.

Citing previous cases, including Inspector-General of Police v. All Nigeria Peoples Party (2007) and APC v. IGP (2014), the judge reaffirmed that the police have no power to ban peaceful rallies.

He also condemned the police for failing to investigate petitions filed by the ADC and SDP after the August 30 attack.

According to him, the refusal to act amounted to a breach of statutory duty.

“The evidence shows the police neglected their responsibility,” Zubairu stated.

“Instead of protecting victims, they sought judicial cover to limit their rights. This is unacceptable in a democracy.”

The court awarded N15 million in total damages  N5 million for suspending the rallies, N5 million for the wrongful injunction, and N5 million for failing to investigate the attack.

Justice Zubairu ordered the Kaduna Commissioner of Police to investigate the August 30 violence and submit a report to the state Attorney-General within 60 days.

He warned that using the police to suppress opposition weakens democracy and public trust.

“Law enforcement must never serve as tools of political intimidation,” the judge concluded.

As the build-up to the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election gains momentum, recent indices have shown a sharp rise in acceptability of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and its candidate, Mr. John Chuma Nwosu (JCN), and his running mate, Dr. Geoffrey Ndubisi Nwobu (GNN), among the elites, political class, and the masses in general.

Observers attributed the recent surge to Mr. Nwosu’s drive that took the campaign to people’s markets, shops, and doorsteps.

One such indices noted that as November 8 approaches, there is growing tension among candidates contesting for the governorship election, following the momentum and widespread acceptance of the joint candidacy of Nwosu and Nwobu in the state.

Also noteworthy is the fact that both Nwosu and Nwobu have served commendably in numerous leadership positions throughout their careers.

Their antecedents speak volumes, as they have elevated the offices they previously held to higher standards.

Political pundits observed that the continued praise from Ndi Anambra comes as no surprise to those who have crossed paths with the candidate and his running mate.

One such pundit interviewed by Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), Mr. Ikechukwu Augustine Obah, noted that strong support spells favour for the Nwosu/Nwobu joint ticket.

Obah said: “It indicates that voting for the African Democratic Congress on November 8 will undoubtedly revitalize our state from its precarious situation to one of sustainable stability.

“With such widespread support for ADC, there is indeed a brighter light at the end of the tunnel,” he added.

Tinubu’s APC Will Control 30 States by 2026 — Information Minister

Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has predicted that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will control 30 states by 2026.

Idris made the bold statement on Wednesday in Maiduguri, Borno State, during the 2025 Quarterly Strategy Meeting of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF).

The meeting, themed “FGN–PGF Synergy 2025: One Message, One Future,” brought together information commissioners from APC-governed states.

According to the minister, the recent wave of defections from opposition parties shows growing confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.

He said the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda had boosted economic stability, investor confidence, and national unity.

“Right now, our great party, the APC, controls 24 states,” Idris said.

“With the number of opposition governors showing interest in joining us, I can assure you that by 2026, we will have 30 APC-controlled states ahead of the 2027 general elections.”

He credited the Tinubu administration for what he described as a “turnaround in governance” across the country.

Idris also praised the Nigerian military and security agencies for restoring peace to the North-East after years of insurgency.

“Borno State remains a symbol of resilience,” he said.

“Its people have survived enormous challenges and continue to rebuild with courage and hope.”

The Minister commended Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum for his ongoing recovery and development efforts.

He said the state’s transformation shows how coordinated leadership can rebuild war-torn communities and restore livelihoods.

During the event, the Director-General of the Progressive Governors Forum, Folorunso S. Aluko, said the Forum had launched the PGF Value Reorientation Campaign to improve civic engagement and highlight the achievements of APC states.

“Our Commissioners for Information continue to refine our public messaging,” Aluko noted.

“They are promoting transparency, unity, and accountability across all APC-led states.”

Declaring the meeting open, Borno Deputy Governor Dr. Umar Kadafur, who represented Governor Zulum, described the gathering as symbolic.

He said Borno’s transformation stands as a story of recovery, resilience, and renewal.

“Our 25-Year Development Plan and 10-Year Strategic Transformation Initiative outline our vision for peace and prosperity,” Kadafur said.

“We must use strategic communication to strengthen public trust and counter misinformation.”

The meeting ended with an inspection of major federal and state projects, including the Maiduguri Mega Power Plant, the Muhammadu Buhari International Airport upgrade, the Tinubu Mega School, and new city flyovers at Customs, West End, and Borno Express.

The Senate will conduct a screening for Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, nominated by President Bola Tinubu as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The screening is scheduled for Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the Senate Chamber in the National Assembly Complex.

President Tinubu formally requested the Senate’s confirmation of Amupitan’s appointment on Tuesday, citing Section 154 subsection 1 of the Nigerian Constitution.

Amupitan’s nomination follows the departure of INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu, who stepped down a month early and handed over to Acting Chair May Agbamuche-Mbu.

The Senate will review Amupitan’s qualifications, experience, and suitability for the role.

Amupitan’s confirmation would mark a new chapter for INEC, particularly with upcoming elections and ongoing electoral reforms.

The Truth About Reno Omokri

Reno Omokri was Special Assistant on New Media to former President Goodluck Jonathan
Reno Omokri was Special Assistant on New Media to former President Goodluck Jonathan

“Reno Omokri has the blood of innocents on his lying tongue. He doesn’t care. What’s an ocean of martyrs’ blood to him, so long as he secures the phantom appointment Tinubu dangles before him?”

The truth about Reno Omokri is sad.

I’ve seen it up close. Last year, on his birthday safari in Kenya. He stayed at my home in Texas. Most recently, he hosted me in Abuja.

Reno doesn’t lie like most liars. He lies calm, cool, constant. Up close, he’s reptilian. Chilling. Soulless. Yet so charming.

Once, he posted a video flaunting luxury cars, claiming they were his. Two belonged to a friend of mine. Reno visited, rode in them, filmed them, and claimed ownership. A total fabrication. I stayed quiet then but started watching closely.

Clout and manipulation

On my recent fact-finding trip about Nigeria’s persecution crisis, he promised meetings with Tinubu, NSA Ribadu, and the Sultan of Sokoto. None happened. Looking back, those promises were props for his narrative—for clout and manipulation.

(At his birthday last year, big names showed up expecting Goodluck Jonathan. That was a lie. They left fast, dodging his shameless PR stunt. They thanked me for showing them the quickest escape route on a map.)

In Abuja, after 30 hours of travel, Reno pulled me into a photo-op with the compromised CAN chairman. I barely got 60 seconds to change my shirt. He whispered, “Don’t mention you just arrived.”

In the meeting, he implied we’d been there longer. He took credit for trips I’ve funded, planned, and endured over six years — presenting it as part of the “fact finding mission” that he had organized. He repeated this with the next group.

On live TV, he called me the current Mayor of Blanco, Texas. False. He knows it. He also said I’m a Republican Mayor—we don’t even have partisan municipal elections.

I haven’t been active in any party for 30 years. He claimed I’m a personal friend of Ted Cruz. Also false. I shook Cruz’s hand in a receiving line a decade ago. That’s it.

He introduced my travel companion as a prominent Republican filmmaker. Not true. My friend does hobby projects, nothing major in decades. I don’t know what party he favors.

How do you know if Reno Omokri is lying? His lips are moving.

This isn’t bitterness. It’s accountability.

When someone denies genocide, twists truth, and poses as a “Christian voice,” character matters.

“The one who practices deceit shall not dwell in My house; he who speaks lies shall not continue before My eyes” (Psalm 101:7).

Reno, I don’t hate you. But I can’t cover for you. I’ve seen too much.

“Blood of innocents on his lying tongue”

Lying to inflate yourself is one thing. Lying to cover up the Christian genocide raging in Nigeria is a bridge too far.

People must know Reno Omokri is a pathological, habitual, calculating, self-serving liar—from someone who knows him personally—so they won’t trust his sleazy attempts to bury the blood of tens of thousands of Nigerian martyrs with the manure spewing from his mouth.

It’s hard to fathom. I’ve never seen anything so stone-cold evil.

If he doesn’t repent, Omokri will go down as Nigeria’s Joseph Goebbels, cast into the lake of eternal fire.

He’s gaslighting a nation while Christians and innocent Nigerians suffer.

Reno Omokri has the blood of innocents on his lying tongue. He doesn’t care. What’s an ocean of martyrs’ blood to him, so long as he secures the phantom appointment Tinubu dangles before him?

I’m convinced he sees the victims as lesser humans. A pure sociopath.

Most Nigerians view him as a perpetually flip-flopping court jester. But with his latest flip into the killing fields, he is now more like Stephen King’s IT – an evil clown, in the gutter, luring innocent people to their death.

Reno claims he keeps meticulous records. So do I. This could get fun.

By the way, his grand plan is to run for vice president under NSA Ribadu.

I almost hope it happens. Nigerians worldwide—from the highest to the lowest—revile him as a self-deluded tool. An emasculated, narcissistic peacock.

Peter Obi’s used toilet paper would poll better. Even soggy, it has more integrity.

But if you’re a Nigerian reading this, you probably already knew that.

EFCC Chairman Reelected to Lead Anti-Corruption Efforts in West Africa

DDM News

0

(DDM) – Mr. Ola Olukoyede, Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has been re-elected as President of the Network of Anti-Corruption Institutions in West Africa (NACIWA), following the organization’s 7th Annual General Assembly (AGA) in Abuja.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the re-election reflects widespread commendation for Olukoyede’s leadership and commitment to tackling trans-border economic and financial crimes across the West African sub-region.

The AGA, attended by representatives from all ECOWAS member states present, also affirmed the adoption of guidelines on borderless investigations, asset tracing, recovery, and management, designed to harmonize anti-corruption efforts across national boundaries.

Member states were urged to integrate these ECOWAS guidelines into their national frameworks to ensure uniform implementation and strengthen regional cooperation in asset recovery, mutual legal assistance, and information exchange.

The assembly reaffirmed its commitment to the 2001 ECOWAS Protocol on the Fight against Corruption, the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), and the African Union Convention on Prevention and Combating Corruption (AUCPCC).

Olukoyede and other Executive Committee members, who completed their first term, were re-elected through consensus for another three-year term, reflecting recognition of their exemplary performance and dedication to regional anti-corruption initiatives.

The assembly also marked the 50th anniversary of ECOWAS, symbolizing renewed unity and collaboration among member states in addressing financial crimes and promoting transparency.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who officially opened the AGA on October 14, 2024, highlighted the urgent need to classify resource theft, illegal mining, and mineral smuggling as international crimes.

He warned that the illicit trade in minerals and other natural resources threatens peace, stability, and economic prosperity across West Africa and called for global action to combat these activities.

The AGA welcomed new member institutions into NACIWA, including Nigeria’s Code of Conduct Bureau and CPC Cabo Verde, expanding the network’s reach and capacity for coordinated anti-corruption enforcement.

The communique stressed the importance of collaboration with civil society organizations (CSOs), youth groups, and media networks to enhance advocacy and public participation in the fight against corruption.

Experts say that strengthening regional frameworks and enhancing cooperation between national financial intelligence units and law enforcement agencies is crucial to tackling the increasingly sophisticated networks involved in cross-border economic crimes.

Olukoyede’s re-election is expected to further consolidate efforts to combat financial crimes, improve asset recovery processes, and promote accountability and good governance across West Africa.

The assembly concluded with renewed calls for member states to domesticate and operationalize ECOWAS protocols, ensuring alignment between national systems and regional commitments to fight corruption.

Peter Obi is The Only True Opposition in Nigeria Today – Fayose

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose has declared that Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi is the only true opposition voice left in Nigeria.

Fayose made the remark during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday.

He insisted that despite Obi’s growing influence, no one could unseat President Bola Tinubu or the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election.

“Tell me, who will defeat the APC?” Fayose asked. “The only opposition that still has traction in Nigeria is Peter Obi.

He remains the only voice that still speaks for the people and maintains public attention despite not being in power.”

Fayose dismissed other opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, saying Nigerians no longer listen to them.

“Atiku and others are just filling the gap,” he said. “People don’t pay attention to them anymore.”

The former governor’s comments come as top opposition politicians, including Obi, Atiku, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and ex-Rivers Governor Rotimi Amaechi, unite under a new coalition.

The group has reportedly chosen the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform to challenge the APC in 2027.

However, Fayose said the ADC coalition posed no threat to the ruling party. “ADC is going nowhere,” he declared.

“They are our friends, senior and junior colleagues, but the truth is, they don’t stand a chance.”

Fayose reaffirmed his support for President Tinubu but said it was not for personal gain or political favour.

According to him, Tinubu offered him a political appointment, but he declined.

“Asiwaju asked me, ‘Oshoko, what should we give you?’ and I told him, ‘Nothing, sir,’” Fayose revealed. “At 65, I have served well. I was a two-term governor. I would rather live quietly and responsibly than chase positions.”

He stressed that his support for Tinubu did not mean he was part of the APC, but that their friendship dated back many years.

On the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Fayose said the party was beyond redemption.

He claimed most PDP governors were already planning to defect and insisted that Tinubu should not be blamed for their exit.

“The PDP is dead,” he said. “I won’t be part of those trying to resurrect it. The defections of Enugu’s Peter Mbah and Bayelsa’s Douye Diri were not Tinubu’s fault. Those governors made their choices.”

Fayose’s statements underline the growing divisions within Nigeria’s opposition bloc ahead of the 2027 elections, with many analysts warning that internal rifts could weaken the challenge against the APC.

Delta Police Arrest Drug Suspects, Rescue Kidnapped Woman

DDM News

0

(DDM) – The Delta State Police Command has successfully arrested two suspected drug traffickers and rescued a kidnapped woman in separate operations across the state.

DDM correspondent reports that Police Spokesperson SP Bright Edafe confirmed the arrests and rescue during a briefing in Asaba.

According to the spokesperson, operatives from the state’s Crack Squad raided a hideout in Effurun, apprehending two individuals and seizing large quantities of codeine, tramadol, and cannabis.

The recovered substances are believed to have been destined for illegal distribution across Delta State, highlighting ongoing concerns about narcotics trafficking in the region.

In a separate operation, officers from the Ovian-Aladja Police Division tracked a woman who had been abducted earlier in the day.

The kidnappers were located in a forested area near Iyara community, where the police successfully rescued the victim unharmed and apprehended some suspects.

SP Edafe noted that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend additional members of the drug and kidnapping syndicate, stressing that no effort would be spared in bringing fleeing suspects to justice.

The operations underscore Delta State Police Command’s commitment to curbing organized crime, ensuring public safety, and maintaining law and order.

Security analysts say these actions reflect improved intelligence gathering and rapid response capabilities by Delta State police units, particularly in high-risk areas prone to criminal activity.

Residents in Effurun and surrounding communities have welcomed the arrests, expressing relief at the swift action taken against drug traffickers and kidnappers, while urging continued vigilance.

Police officials emphasized the importance of community cooperation, encouraging citizens to report suspicious activities and provide information that could aid ongoing investigations.

The Delta State Police Command also confirmed that the arrested drug suspects would be charged under relevant criminal statutes, including drug trafficking, possession of controlled substances, and conspiracy.

Meanwhile, the rescued woman has been reunited with her family, and authorities are providing support to ensure her safety and well-being.

Analysts note that the dual success in tackling both drug-related crime and kidnapping in a single day sends a strong message to criminal elements operating in Delta State.

SP Edafe reassured the public that the police would maintain a visible presence in vulnerable communities, enhance patrols along major transport corridors, and collaborate with other security agencies to prevent similar incidents.

The Delta State Police Command reaffirmed its zero-tolerance approach to crime, stressing that organized criminal networks will continue to face decisive law enforcement action.
