During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime, providing details that led investigators to a shallow grave where the body of the victim was buried.

Police operatives subsequently visited the location and recovered the remains, confirming the worst fears of the grieving family and the wider community.

The incident has triggered widespread outrage, with residents describing the act as inhumane and calling for swift justice to serve as a deterrent to others.

Security experts note that kidnapping for ransom has evolved into a major security challenge in Nigeria, with perpetrators often operating within local communities and exploiting familiar environments.

They stress that improved intelligence gathering, community policing, and collaboration between residents and security agencies are essential in tackling the menace.

Police authorities in Bauchi have assured the public that the suspect will be prosecuted in accordance with the law, while investigations continue to determine whether accomplices were involved.
