Nigerian filmmaker and video director Dammy Twitch has shared a deeply emotional account of losing his father while actively working on a music video set.
Speaking during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Dammy Twitch revealed that he was on set shooting a video for singer Patoranking when he received the devastating news that his father had passed away.
According to him, the call came while production was still ongoing, leaving him in a difficult emotional state. Despite the tragedy, he made the decision to complete the shoot before fully processing the loss.
He described the experience as one of the hardest moments of his life, noting the pressure of having to continue working while dealing with personal grief.
Dammy Twitch also expressed gratitude to Nigerian music star Davido, who he said stepped in to support him during that period. He recalled that Davido not only offered assistance but also volunteered to pay for the video production.
He added that the singer went as far as taking a boat to meet him and his team in person, a gesture he described as unforgettable and deeply comforting during a painful time.
Reflecting on his journey, the filmmaker also touched on his earlier struggles to gain his mother’s approval for his career path. According to him, her perception changed only after he began earning money and contributing financially at home, which eventually helped her accept his profession.
His story has since resonated with many young creatives, highlighting themes of resilience, family pressure, and the emotional realities behind success in the entertainment industry.
