To strengthen land administration, Ekiti State will launch an aerial mapping project starting April 20, 2025.
This initiative aims to modernize urban planning, infrastructure development, and governance through precise geospatial data collection.
The government announced the project on April 19, 2025, via its official X platform.
Furthermore, State Commissioner for Information Taiwo Olatunbosun detailed the plan during a press briefing in Ado Ekiti, emphasizing its transformative potential.
Commissioner Olatunbosun explained that low-altitude aircraft will systematically capture detailed land data statewide.
Scheduled to conclude in December 2025, the exercise will generate critical insights for land management and policy formulation.
“Accurate geospatial data enables informed governance and sustainable progress,” Olatunbosun stated.
He highlighted its role in reducing land disputes and fraud while boosting investor confidence for stakeholders like developers and communities.
Authorities will implement safety protocols to protect residents during aerial operations.
Additionally, officials will monitor flights closely to address security concerns and minimize public disruption.
Simultaneously, Olatunbosun urged citizens to remain calm upon seeing low-flying aircraft.
He also requested stakeholder cooperation to ensure the project’s success and advance Ekiti’s development goals.
This initiative is projected to attract real estate and infrastructure investments, accelerating economic growth.
By enhancing transparency in land transactions, it will foster a stable environment for long-term development.
Ultimately, the mapping project reflects Ekiti’s commitment to leveraging technology for equitable resource management and improved quality of life.
Through collaborative efforts, the state aims to establish itself as a model for innovative land administration in Nigeria.
