Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has opened up about the heartbreaking final moments he shared with his first son, Kambilichukwu Edochie, before his sudden death in 2023.
Speaking during an interview on The Honest Bunch, the actor recounted how the day began like any other in their home calm, normal, and filled with lighthearted moments. According to him, his son came into his room that morning before heading to school, and the two shared a warm conversation.
He revealed that they joked about the boy’s height, noting how tall he had grown and how he was already close to matching him. The moment, he said, was filled with laughter and playful banter.
“That was my first son. That morning, he came into my room before going to school. We talked and joked about his height because he was quite tall… we gisted and laughed, then he left,” he recalled.
However, just a few hours later, everything changed.
Yul Edochie said he received a sudden call asking him to come to the hospital. At the time, he had no idea what had happened, but he rushed there immediately only to be met with the devastating sight of his son lying lifeless.
“About three hours after they called me, I came to the hospital, and I saw him dead like this,” he said, describing the shocking and painful moment.
The actor expressed how the memory of that morning remains vivid in his mind, especially because nothing about their interaction hinted at the tragedy that would follow. What began as a joyful exchange between father and son quickly turned into one of the most painful experiences of his life.
His emotional revelation has since resonated with many, sparking sympathy and reflection on the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing everyday moments with loved ones.
