ENUGU, NIGERIA — Foundation members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu North Senatorial District have appealed to Governor Peter Mbah to intervene over the alleged removal and replacement of some ward and local government executives of the party.
The group, operating under the aegis of G-30 Enugu North Senatorial Zone, made the appeal in a statement signed by Barth Ifeanyi Ugwoke, a former APC Director of Research, Strategy and Intelligence Matters. The statement was issued in Enugu on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
Group Questions Executive Changes
The group alleged that some ward and local government executives who emerged from the APC congresses held in March 2026 had been removed and replaced without explanations being communicated to the affected officers.
It urged Governor Mbah to establish the circumstances surrounding the changes and determine the authority under which the alleged replacements were carried out.
According to the group, the affected executives emerged through the party’s foundation structure as part of an arrangement aimed at integrating members of the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party and foundation APC into a unified APC structure in Enugu State.
G-30 Seeks Restoration
The group called for the restoration of the affected executives where there was no valid resignation, disciplinary finding, allegation of anti-party activity or other constitutionally recognised basis for their removal.
It also urged the party leadership to ensure that future alterations to elected party structures comply with the APC Constitution and established party procedures.
The group argued that elected party positions should not be treated as appointments that individuals can withdraw or reassign at their discretion.
Members Recall APC Integration
The G-30 said its members were among those who welcomed Governor Mbah and other former PDP leaders and members into the APC.
It said they supported the political integration because they expected the coming together of different political tendencies to create a stronger and more inclusive party structure in Enugu State.
According to the group, the arrangement it understood provided for the existing PDP structure and foundation APC members to occupy positions within the unified party framework.
The members now want the integration process to continue in a manner they consider consistent with the arrangements that accompanied the political realignment.
Call For Due Process
The group further argued that allegations of misconduct against elected party officials should be handled through established disciplinary and constitutional procedures.
It pointed to previous instances where the APC announced suspensions or dissolutions of ward and local government executives while citing allegations, investigations and caretaker arrangements.
The G-30 said such procedures demonstrated the importance of establishing and communicating the basis for significant changes to party structures.
Group Seeks Inclusive Party Structure
The foundation members also appealed to the Enugu APC leadership to promote consultation and inclusiveness in its dealings with members who belonged to the party before the recent political realignment.
They specifically called for what they described as the proper integration of foundation APC members without what they termed lopsided appointments.
The group said preserving unity would require all sides of the party structure to respect established procedures and ensure that members understand the basis for changes affecting elected positions.
Mbah Yet To Respond
The appeal places the alleged removal of the executives before Governor Mbah, who the group wants to investigate the circumstances surrounding the changes.
The available reports on the statement did not include a response from Governor Mbah or the Enugu APC leadership to the allegations.
The dispute comes against the backdrop of continuing political realignment in Enugu State, with different political groups working to establish their positions within the APC structure.
For the G-30 Enugu North Senatorial Zone, the immediate demand is for clarification of the alleged executive changes, adherence to party procedures and an integration process that preserves the existing party structure.
