The Federal Government, through the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), has reopened applications for its Conditional Grant Scheme (CGS), giving eligible nano and micro business owners the opportunity to access a one-time ₦50,000 grant to support and expand their businesses.
According to SMEDAN, the grant is non-repayable but comes with a condition that beneficiaries must employ at least one additional worker, as part of efforts to promote job creation and strengthen small businesses across the country.
The agency said the initiative is designed to provide financial support to businesses that may find it difficult to access conventional loans, while encouraging entrepreneurship, productivity and local economic growth.
The scheme is separate from the Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme, although both programmes provide ₦50,000 grants to eligible nano enterprises.
To apply, interested business owners are required to provide their full name, email address, phone number, business name, CAC registration number (where applicable), business sector and the number of years the business has been in operation.
Applicants are advised to ensure all information submitted is accurate.
The grant is intended to support legitimate business activities, including the purchase of equipment, working capital, technology upgrades, business expansion, skills development and market expansion.
