Fresh insight into kidnap of Commissioner who resigned from Obiano’s Govt

Fresh insight has been thrown into the kidnap of the Anambra state Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Culture and Tourism Hon. Christian Madubuko, the resigned Commissioner in the administration of Governor Willie Obiano.

Contacts has been establish with the family of the kidnapped former Commissioner who resigned from the government over claims that his life was under threat.

Our correspondent, Mr. Eneh Victor Chigozie spoke with his younger brother, Chinedu Madubuko and O. J Udemezue.

According to the duo, they said, they just left the police station where they have gone to make report about the disappearance of their brother.

O. J Udemezue who first spoke to our correspondent at Awka said they have filed an official report to the CPS Awka and that the police said it will activate its signal in search of the former Commissioner.

Dr Madubuko who said he resigned his appointment following alleged threat to his life and sabotage in government was last seen on January 13, 2021.

According to Mr Udemezue, Madubuko was at APGA secretariat Awka on January 13. “We were told he was at APGA secretariat to see one of the party executives. ”

He, however, confirmed that he left the party secretariat before the kidnappers blocked and took him away in a gusto style.

“He was last seen at the APGA office, it was when he left the party secretariat that he was said to have been kidnapped by men dressed in a camouflage.”

His younger brother said that his brother drove himself that day and that he was not with anyone at the time of the abduction.

When asked why they didn’t report to police since January 13th, when the incident took place, Mr Chinedu Madubuko said he was not aware until yesterday when he got a call that his brother had been kidnapped.

“I spoke with him on that day and we were supposed to meet today. When I called his driver, he said he was at the village that he didn’t go with him to Awka.”

He also that his wife and children are in far away Austria and that was why none of the family members knew of the kidnap earlier.

He said he had talked with the wife who said she has been calling his friends in Nigeria especially those in Anambra to help rescue the husband.

Speaking further, Mr O. J Udemezue alleged that on December 19, 2020 while returning from a burial at Osumenyi, that some gunmen trailed the former Commissioner but that the he fortunately escaped.

“He was trailed on December 19 from Osumenyi where he attended a burial. Some unknown armed men followed him but he escaped.”

When asked if he reported the incident of December 19, to the police, they said they are not sure if he did.

They therefore appealed to the security agencies to help them rescue the former Commissioner.
