Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has raised the alarm over an alleged police directive ordering the arrest and transfer of Accord Party leaders in the state ahead of the governorship election.
Speaking at a press conference this evening, Adeleke claimed that his administration had received what he described as a credible report that a police signal had arrived in Osun State directing the arrest of Accord Party leaders, their transfer to Abuja and their detention until after Monday, following the governorship election.
The governor described the alleged directive as a serious development that could undermine the electoral process and called for immediate attention from relevant authorities.
Adeleke also called for the arrest of Senator Francis Fadahunsi over a viral video in which the senator allegedly made comments interpreted as a call for violence against members of the Accord Party.
The governor said the alleged remarks should be investigated, particularly given the heightened political tensions surrounding the election.
The competing allegations come at a sensitive moment in Osun State, where political parties are intensifying their campaigns and preparations ahead of the governorship poll.
