Gunmen Attack Health Centre, Abduct Nurses in Ondo

Suspected armed bandits have attacked a primary healthcare facility in Akure, abducting at least six health workers in the early hours of Saturday.

According to reports, the iincident occurred at a government-owned primary health centre located in the Oke Ijebu area of the city, around 2:00 a.m., according to preliminary reports.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers arrived in a bus and forcefully gained entry into the facility before rounding up staff on duty, including trainee health workers. The victims were reportedly herded into the vehicle and taken to an unknown location.

Details surrounding the attack remain unclear, and authorities have yet to release an official statement as of the time of reporting.

The development has heightened concerns over the safety of healthcare workers and public facilities in Ondo State, amid rising incidents of abductions and insecurity across parts of the country.

Security agencies are expected to launch an investigation and possibly initiate rescue efforts as more information emerges.
