Gunmen kill former Ogun broadcaster, security guard

Gunmen in the wee hours of Sunday, assassinated a former staff member of Ogun State Television, Mrs Kitan Oyesiku, popularly known as “Aunty Kitan”, alongside her security guard at her residence in Agodo community along the Abeokuta–Siun–Sagamu Expressway.

The bodies of the deceased were said to have been deposited at the morgue of the State Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta.

At the time of filing this report, details surrounding the killings remain sketchy.

Though, source who doesn’t want to be quoted according to PUNCH said: “What we heard was that it was some church members who actually discovered this horrendous incident.

“They had come around to check on Mrs Oyesiku when they did not see her in the church. On getting to her residence, they found out that the security officer had been killed, and they later also saw that the assailants had also killed Mrs Oyesiku. That was how they raised the alarm in the community.”

The spokesman of the state police command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the incident but said the command would soon issue an official statement on the killings.

The late Oyesiku was well known in media circles, having worked with the state-owned television station before her retirement.
