Heidi Klum delivered one of the most talked-about transformations at the Met Gala, fully committing to the night’s “fashion as art” spirit by turning herself into a living sculpture.

For the look, Klum underwent an intense, hours-long process that reportedly took about 10 hours to complete. The transformation began with a full 3D scan of her body, allowing artists to create a precise base for the design. From there, layers of foam latex were carefully molded and hand-painted to mimic the texture and tone of carved marble.

The inspiration behind the look was the 19th-century artwork Veiled Vestal by Raffaelle Monti, a sculpture famous for its delicate illusion of a veil draped over a figure’s face and body. Translating that effect onto a real person required meticulous detail, as the team worked to recreate the soft, translucent appearance of stone fabric resting against skin.

Makeup artists and designers paid close attention to light and shadow, using subtle shading techniques to give the illusion of depth, cracks, and sculpted contours. Even Klum’s posture and movement were adjusted to maintain the stillness and presence of a statue, turning her red carpet appearance into a full performance rather than just a fashion moment.

The result was striking Klum appeared almost frozen in time, blurring the line between human and artwork. Unlike traditional gowns or couture pieces, her look functioned as a living installation, drawing admiration for both its creativity and technical execution.

Her transformation quickly became one of the standout moments of the night, with many praising the dedication and craftsmanship behind it. In a space where bold fashion is expected, Klum’s decision to embody a historic sculpture elevated the conversation, proving that the Met Gala remains a place where fashion, art, and performance intersect in unforgettable ways.
