“If There’s Anything, They’d Have Found It” — Lawrence Oyor on Peter Obi (VIDEO)

Gospel minister Lawrence Oyor has sparked discussion after speaking about the political record and public profile of former Anambra State governor and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.

Oyor said Nigerians should find it unusual that a person who has attained significant prosperity, political influence and public prominence could remain without anything substantial being pinned on him.

“Whether you want to vote for Peter Obi for president or not, it should baffle you that a man has made it to that level of prosperity and capacity, as far as politics, power and influence are concerned, and yet you cannot pin anything on him,” Oyor said.

The gospel minister questioned whether Nigerians appreciate how unusual such a situation could be in the country, given the level of scrutiny that often surrounds prominent political figures.

“Do you know how strange that is in this country?” he asked.

Oyor went further to suggest that if there were serious damaging information that could be established against Obi, it would likely have emerged by now.

“If there’s anything they could have found, they would have found it by now!” he said.

His comments have generated reactions among Nigerians, particularly online, with some viewing the statement as praise for Obi’s public record while others argue that the absence of a proven allegation should not automatically be interpreted as proof of complete innocence or wrongdoing by any political figure.

Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, became a major figure in national politics after running for president in the 2023 general election on the Labour Party platform. His political career and record in public office have remained subjects of intense debate among supporters and critics.
