Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has publicly declared her support for Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.
Edochie criticised Nigerians who support the All Progressives Congress (APC), arguing that such support is driven by personal financial interests rather than concern for the country.
“If you are supporting APC, it means you are just after your pockets and not the betterment of our country, Nigeria,” she said.
The actress went on to describe Peter Obi and Kwankwaso as the option she believes offers hope to ordinary Nigerians.
“The Peter Obi and Kwankwaso ticket is the only hope for common Nigerians,” she added.
Her comments come as political alignments continue to take shape ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with opposition figures and supporters discussing possible alliances and platforms for challenging the ruling APC. Recent reports also indicate that Edochie has begun publicly campaigning for the Obi-Kwankwaso combination.
Edochie has previously used her social media platforms to comment on Nigerian politics and issues affecting the country. Her latest statement represents her personal political position and support for the two politicians.
Peter Obi was the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, while Rabiu Kwankwaso contested the same election under the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
